“Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me! O LORD, be my helper!” (Psalms 30:10 ESV)

The God we believe in is a God of possibilities! We are limited people who have an Unlimited God! Every day of our lives, we find ourselves as David facing Goliath. Only the Goliath’s we face are not always human but are of human origin either from within ourselves or come from others with exception of the forces of nature.

David as a young boy may have only faced Goliath once but throughout his life, he faced overwhelming odds. Some of those only God could help him with and because he learned early in life that God was always dependable and ready to help him he always turned to God.

This morning what Goliath are you facing? David volunteered to face Goliath perhaps you have volunteered or thinking about volunteering for something and it seems overwhelming. There were situations that David was thrust into such as being chased by King Saul perhaps you are facing a situation so complex human reasoning is of no help.

“Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me! O LORD, be my helper!” (Psalms 30:10 ESV)

I remember when my dad lie in a comma in Vencor Hospital kept alive only by a machine my mom and my brothers and sister found ourselves facing a Goliath we never wanted to face – should we turn off the machine or leave it going. We talked. We prayed. We talked some more. We prayed some more. And then we decided to remove dad from the machine and then dad’s spirit was no longer hanging between heaven and earth but was free to return home. The seven of us, God, mom, dad, my sister, my two brothers, and me had defeated the mighty Goliath.

“Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me! O LORD, be my helper!” (Psalms 30:10 ESV)

So many people think David’s story and the stories of others like David come from the pages of the bible and that is where we find them but they don’t come from the pages of the bible they come from the pages of lives just like us!

Grace and PEACE!
Gary

My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
