In reply to Rational Gaze. dDoesn't most of the United States have curfew for under 18s? It doesn't seem like such a bad idea to me. There's no reason for kids to be out in the city centre between those times. They should be at home tucked up in bed. I know I wouldn't have been allowed to go wandering about the streets late at night when I was a teenager.

Screwball to Rayado, AP, and Rogue. You guys know why.

      ***Rest in peace, Curtmudgeon!***
      "I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'

'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Shunyadragon requires a screwball for everything he says. The words "blithering" and "idiot" come to mind, but I don't think they adequately capture every facet and nuance of his supreme and monumental idiocy.

He is the only person I have on ignore, but I just felt that I needed to read one of his posts(I know it was stupid), and out comes the stupidity. He's also very arrogant, which compounds the problem even more.

Raynin, on why she left Christianity for Judaism:

The first thing for me to question was the practice of christians celebrating Christmas and easter. Christians will openly admit Jesus was not born on christmas, or risen on easter. So then I began to think Jehovah's witness had the right idea etc. Further research showed me that those holidays were made to reflect pagan holidays, xmas trees christanity's very own idol that we put up every year and try to say its about jesus. I stopped celebrating holidays like that except when forced to due to family obligations. Further investigation showed that Jesus and horus were extremely similar. to similar....errily similar. coincidence? I was whorshiping a "demi" god...herculces style. Sounds stupid when put that way. Also after reading some interesting articles reflecting that Jewish people have always read the hebrew scriptures first, and then the new testament had to prove its validity through the hebrew bible. Not the other way around which is how christians are taught. Matter of fact we are taught to skip reading the old testment and go straight to the "roman road" When you try to proof the new testament through the hebrew scriptures you realize how invalid they really are. There are two verses in the hebrew scripture that really sold me. There were other things but the two that really did and if you can answer them I would interested to hear your response. 1. God abhorrs human sacrafice especially the sacrafice of the sons. THIS makes no sense when trying to add jesus to the mix. It makes God contradict him self...which well I don't believe. 2. Each man will pay for his own sin according to what he has done. Again? what? how then can jesus pay the sacrafice for all then? and why would god sacrafice his own son when he hates it. There are many more arguments out there but those were my reasons. Not mention he didn't do anything he was supposed to have done...

Hey, they found John The Baptist. And there's absolutely no reason to doubt them.
There is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of 'Heaven' ridiculous by saying they do not want 'to spend eternity playing harps'. The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them.

Screwball to a young poster on a non-religion related website I'm active on, who, in the context of somebody accidentally copy-pasting something with racial/gay slurs, stated that he approved of gay slurs but not racial slurs, and quoted Leviticus 20:13 verbatim to support gay bashing.

      Re: June 2012 Screwballs

Er...wow. This email will nom Platinum...it's about my article on the Exodis logistics:

You did not use Jewish sources, otherwise you wouldn't have written the article the way you did.

The sources at the bottom of the article are

      Sources

Sarn.EE -- Sarna, Nahum. Exploring Exodus. Schocken Books, 1986.
Tip.FH -- Tippett, Frank. The First Horsemen. Time-Life Books, 1974.
Wil.LM -- Wilson, Dick. The Long March 1935: The Epic of Chinese Communism's Survival. New York: Viking Press, 1971.

The Sarna book is not a Jewish source even if he is Jewish.

Some other stupid stuff this guy said:

"First of all, look at the family listings in Genesis 46, and the sons born to Jacob’s sons. There are a total of 51 sons that could have lived to produce offspring. If we assume that there was one female born for every male, we would have 102 children. That comes to a total of 8.5 children per family." - Every Jewish child educated in Torah knows that every one of Jacob's sons was born with a female twin. Dinah was an exception. She only had one child, whom Joseph married. Her daughter only had two children, both boys.

There can't be an 8.5 children per family, if only because there is an equally well known tradition that every woman in Egypt bore six children, but this is then challenged by a tradition that every woman bore 60 children (for which there is a logical explanation). One woman bore 600,000 children. I'll leave you to ponder that one, which is a literary truth.

Even a simple reading of the Torah in English should give you a clue of the errors in your calculations. It says, "And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt in the country of Goshen; and they took possession of it, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly", (Gen. 47:27) But this was from the Egyptian perspective. The Egyptians, if you accessed Jewish sources, were not very child-minded people, and on average had only two children, assuming the first was a girl, because of the Egyptian inheritance laws.

To digress a bit, "The Scythians survived just fine without firewood; they used their own herd animals for such purposes -- the bones made for firewood, and the carcasses made do as a stirring pot." would be funny if you weren't serious. Have you ever tried to burn bone?

And what is the source for the "Semitic Totality Concept"? It seems Moses was unaware of it, so I'm in good company.

Your conclusion is that "29 trillion quail or 12,000,000 quail per Jew.", is therefore wrong on two counts, since a "Jew" is a reference to only one of the tribes, Yehuda, which has been historically attached to all descendants of Israel.

There isn't a real point to your article, because you really misinform the reader due to lack of research and use of common sense never mind freely available information online.

Not every message has to have an argument.

PS: Farrell, you are wrong on one of your web pages when you say that "The ancient Hebrews believed that their god Yahweh had selected them from all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his chosen people (Deut. 7:6)." The people of Israel knew they were chosen, rather than believed it. There is a rather large difference there.

Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.
