Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Crab Battle
noun
Words uttered to incite an all in brawl. Whoever says the words 'Crab Battle' will usually be spear tackled to the ground by anyone else present, and all parties will then engage in a fight to the death.
Reality untouchable, transparent, invisible to our fixed, restricted fields of vision. Existence taken for granted, absolute. Possessed, owned, controlled by the common sense-infected rational gaze, onward forever we walk among the ignorant. Never stray from the common lines.

CS Lewis, Mere ChristianityThere is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of 'Heaven' ridiculous by saying they do not want 'to spend eternity playing harps'. The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them.

Re: June 2012 Screwballs
Riiiight exaggerate much?
You have no idea what Riposte is. btw I've watched him interact online with Atheists since the mid 80s when we were on AOL and I can tell you that he gives each person he communicates with the respect they are do. if a person has shown they have studied or are willing to look into the what is being discussed seriously he takes them seriously but if the person shows that they haven't studied the matter in question and don't want to then he makes sure to show them for what they are, fools who are pretending to know what they are talking about when they don't.
BTW I don't think you understand the phrase you choose "Even the Elect shall be fooled" of course you aren't looking at the whole context are you. just doing what any other fundy atheist does and look at the concordance in the back of the bible to cherry pick a verse here and a verse there trying to prove your point.
even I can see that, and I am no way as Scholarly as JPH or ApologiaNick. I just know looking at the full context is everything
Give it up Sarah you are only continuing to show others how much of a obsessed fool you are.
but then what else can we expect of a LazyAgnostic copy cat.Last edited by RumTumTugger; June 3rd 2012 at 04:02 AM.

She can't even get any reputable apologist to support non-theism.

Screwball to Jorge for this gem:
http://www.theologyweb.com/campus/sh...13#post3416013Hopefully you have not forgotten that reading Scripture is NOT primarily an intellectual engagement
but rather a task that requires spiritual discernment that must be facilitated by God Himself.

Admittedly, the Jorge nomination is probably more for the broader context of what he was saying. An atheist in the thread then went on to cite his broader comment as evidence for his personal belief that one cannot reason their way into faith. I really hate it when discussions get derailed like that.

Re: June 2012 Screwballs
An exchange with PlutoPowered on my video response to Crazypills2's "The Company you Keep". Does anyone here have any idea what he's trying to say/achieve? My words are in green. His are in red. There was another poster and his words are in blue.
Let's get to the point. Your god doesn't exist.
Actually, that's not the point of this video. Please try to improve your comprehension ability. Night school might be an idea.
Actually, I'm working on my second degree. And, yes, that is overall point. Hopefully you'll get there someday.
A degree in what? Off topic ranting?
No, a degree in, "getting to the point". You should look into it sometime.
The question of God's existence is not the topic of this video. Your comment was therefore off topic. I am sick of people like you. Unless you're going to address the topic of the video, shut up.
"people like you", lol!
"people like you" he is referring to people who don't watch videos and just go off topic.Nothing lol-able.
I watched the video and he obviously can't make the leap to understand my post (and neither can you). Lol at his post and at you too!
It's amazing that you and he spend so much time over such a trivial post. But, I guess that is right in line with the whole topic of the video. Lol again!
"Your God doesn't exist". Even if that's true, everything I said in this video about Crazypills2 would still be true. In fact you could be an atheist and agree with all of the points I made in this video. The question of God's existence is not the topic of the video.
Sigh.
What is it you came here to say? Last chance. Explain properly or be blocked.

Re: June 2012 Screwballs
Srewball to Tassman, who in the "Why believe the Bible thread" compares the "respected authority", Karen Armstrong, with the "mere library diploma" held by the "self-appointed expert on all things biblical", JP Holding.
Karen Armstrong turns out, following Tassman's Westar Institute link to Karen Armstrong, to be without academic qualifications, and to have progressed down, not up, the academic ladder.
