A Glory Seed Devotional
Trust in Jesus…
“Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore.” (Psalms 125:1-2 ESV)
Trusting Jesus has not come easy to me, it has been an uphill climb all the way. It’s not that I’ve had to struggle believing in Jesus because I was raised in a home where Jesus was very much alive. But for some reason when I would hear my folks talking about him, or I would be exposed to Jesus in church and Sunday school it was always someone else’s story not mine. And for some reason I needed Jesus to be real to me himself, I could not put my trust in a second hand Jesus.
I remember one night back in the early 70’s lying in bed saying, “Jesus, I am not going to sleep until I see you.” And with my eyes shut tight I waited to see an image of Jesus after all didn’t Jesus want me to trust in him. I fell asleep seeing only darkness but a very strange thing began to happen and slowly through the darkness of eyes that didn’t trust Jesus slowly began to reveal himself to me.
Slowly over the years, Jesus continued to reveal himself to me and as he did, my trust in him deepened as well. In April of 2008 using my imagination I was able to finally close my eyes and see Jesus’ image in fact I even wrote a book about my intimate times with Jesus “Intimate Conversations with Jesus” (click on title if you’d like to review it). And even now, I continue to marvel at the numerous ways Jesus continues to reveal himself to me and with each new experience, the baseline for my trust level continues to rise.
There are times when I write these devotionals from a very personal perspective but they are not about me I like to think about them as times when I lift my flickering candle ignited and sustained by Jesus for all to see in expectation that Jesus will ignite and sustain the candle of anyone who exposes their wick to him.
Here’s to you kid! “Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore.” (Psalms 125:1-2 ESV)
Grace and PEACE!
