Where do they come up with this stuff?

I'm spending the weekend with my younger sister and we're in the middle of a discussion about Revelations (yes the last book of the Bible) and then she asked me if it was true that Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is a prophet and not the Son of God. I asked her where she heard that and she doesn't remember...

      Who came up with that?

There could be any number of possibilities, such as:

She is confusing us with some other church/religion (JWs?) that does have that belief.

She was exposed to inaccurate, Deckerish propaganda about us.

      She just misread our doctrine.

Misunderstandings about virtually all churches and religions can crop up in any of us. There is probably no shortage of LDS people who have misunderstandings about the doctrines of other churches. I have been guilty of such misunderstandings.
"I think we may accept it as a rule that whenever a person's
religious conversation dwells chiefly, or even frequently,
on the faults of other people's religions, she/he is in a bad condition."
      -C.S. Lewis (Collected Letters Vol. 3 p. 209).

Well you can rule Decker out, my mother made it clear that she's not to study Mormonism.

It's all because of that extra "s" on the end of Revelation.

Sounds positively Islamic to me. I wonder what Cerebrum would say to that?
"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in c\taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning."

Re: Where do they come up with this stuff?

Some Mormon missionaries told me once, that a guy they were talking to asked if they really sacrificed goats in the Salt Lake temple, and then threw their bodies off the roof into the Great Salt Lake. They told him no, that the lake was actually miles away and no one could throw a goat that far.
Curiosity never hurt anyone. It was stupidity that killed the cat.
