I believe Jesus can heal guilt, but only for the penitent.

I tend to agree, but this gift is only for the penitent as I see it. Others will retain their guilt beyond the grave.
"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in c\taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning."

I once heard an evangelist say that the only thing that belongs to you is your name. It was an interesting point - our names will be searched for at the final judgment to see if they belong in the book of life.

      Google isn't the CEV.

Over on the WM or Carm version of this forum, one of your fellow anti-LDS just posted a quote from the CEV Study Bible while attempting to refute a pro-LDS person's argument.

What can I say, that wasn't a very smart thing to do. I can't help it when someone ELSE does something that isn't that smart, so why blame me? Why not just tell him that if he is going to be using something as a proof text, then it would be best if he wasn't using a Bible specifically made for children, and uneducated adults?

I don't blame you or anyone else. I am just not convinced that it was a bad move on the part of that anti.

I haven't looked into it, so I won't judge it yet.

Restating what I "think" you're saying.....correct me where I'm wrong....
You can be in heaven and not be penitent...therefore you can have guilt in heaven?

If I'm understanding you correctly...and again correct me if I'm not.....I don't see how your understanding of heaven can be heavenly, nor how it would match up with the scripture I quoted earlier..."no pain" would include guilt since guilt is emotional pain.

My OP was about what we do or don't take with us when we die, and not about what we do or don't take with us into the resurrection. That would be a slightly different list, IMO.

No. Only the penitent will receive mercy. The atonement of Christ cleanses only the penitent. Only those who rely on the mercies of Jesus Christ can make it into heaven (heaven meaning a glorious, resurrected state.) Therefore, since guilt is washed away for the penitent, and no one inherits heaven unless they become clean through the atonement of Christ, those in heaven will not have guilt.

LDS believe there is a period of time between death and the resurrection.

You're that kid who, when Mom yelled at you because you stuck a toy firetruck up your nose, responded with "But BOBBIE did it, TOO!!!!!" Aren't you?
