Re: Christians and Softball
Think, not feel, nrajeff. Feeling is subjective. Thinking requires looking at the evidence(the Scriptures themselves, how well the orthodox creeds line up with Scripture, how trustworthy the Scriptures and the authorities of the early church are, etc.) and making judgments based on that. The evidence just doesn't support Mormons as being Christians in any meaningful sense. Mormons reinterpret the Scriptures in ways anathema to both historical Christians and pre-Christian Jews, and even when they use the same words they do not mean remotely the same thing. Mormonism is different from historical Christianity at the most fundamental level, and it only becomes more obvious that they are different religions entirely as more specifics become known. No amount of word games or sentimentality can obscure that from anyone with half a mind to look at the evidence.

And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in c\taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning."

Re: Christians and Softball
really? I was speaking about you mormons here on tweb, OC. You all will bend over backwards here on Tweb to keep from disagreeing with each other, even when it is glaringly obvious one of you has totally left the ball park. Take Jo's rant about Barnabas not being an apostle, or some of the other wild claims she has made over the years. Instead of telling her that she is wrong, you all just encourage her and pat her on the back. It's downright hilarious to watch you guys twist and hem and haw in order not to criticize each other. Unless it is Ke7. then you all gang up on her and toss her under the bus because she dares to disagree with you.

People (like me sometimes) say "feel" when expressing an opinion because it seems more polite or less aggressive. I actually DONT like using it but its hard to break the habit

I wonder if they have little stamp books that they can turn in for rewards in heaven.

What's more, it seems that individual Latter-day Saints were allowed to join other teams in the league and play without any problem; they'd done so in the past. It was a specifically LDS team representing Mormonism that was considered specifically over the line by the Christian softball league here.
"If God has given [his people] such joy now, joy in their faith, in their hope, in love, in the truth of his scriptures, what kind of joy is he preparing for them at the end? If he feeds them like this on the journey, how will he feast them in their homeland?"--Augustine of Hippo

Re: Christians and Softball
I still don't see why the LDS church tries so hard to identify as just another Christian denomination when their whole schtick is that Christianity is apostate and only they are the "true" Christian church.
Well actually I do see. it's a marketing ploy. they want to be accepted as a mainstream "normal" religion instead of a cult, so that they can more easily gather new members. "See we are just like you! Come join our church!"

Internetzweb. They're getting more "transparency" than they ever dreamed possible.
Yeah, talk about marketing ploys! Here's a good example of the PR that has been airing in my area....Well actually I do see. it's a marketing ploy. they want to be accepted as a mainstream "normal" religion instead of a cult, so that they can more easily gather new members. "See we are just like you! Come join our church!"
Just a logical extension of orthodoxy!

well the "it's made me kinder towards others" seems to have backfired on Jeff, OC and Jo.
