A Glory Seed Devotional
In the Light of Christ…

So Jesus said to them, "The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." When Jesus had said these things, he departed and hid himself from them. (John 12:35-36 ESV)

See the first sentence? Forget about it! That was for another time and another place since Jesus returned to heaven the light shines and according to an earlier chapter the darkness has not overcome it! On one of our vacations, Patti and I toured Mammoth Caves in Kentucky and at one point far below the surface of the earth our guide turned out the lights and for 60 seconds we were in total darkness. It was you-can’t-see-your-hand-touching-your-nose dark, yet as dark as it was the sun was still shining. Just as you cannot still the wind, you cannot darken the sun.

In John chapter 8 verse 12 Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” And then in chapter 14 speaking about his return to heaven he tells YOU of his continual abiding in YOU through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. ‘I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.’” (John 14:16-20 ESV)

Today are you walking in darkness? Are you walking in dimming light adversity? Are clouds of difficulties looming on the horizon? I dare say no matter who you are, no matter what your status is in life there will always be days when we or the world around us will come between us and Jesus’ Light but just as the wind cannot be stilled, Jesus’ light will forever shine and in some way the Holy Spirit will draw you back into the Light!

Grace and PEACE!
Gary
