Some Kids Who Never Leared This Grew Up And Moved To DC

This has relevance far beyond families with kids. For example, when you come to the realization that you can have more if you earn more, you get up and go do it. And Washington bureaucrats seem to have the "gimmies". One never takes responsibility if he doesn't have a sense of stewardship, that is, this belongs to someone else and I must act as such. Of course if you think wealth was gained illegitimately, you feel justified taking it. But if I cut down a tree and chop it up into firewood-sized pieces, it has more value and I should be compensated for that. Standing timber simply has less value than cut timber. And if I turn that same tree into a piece of furniture, that adds more value. Learn this simple rule. Get over the "gimmies".Human embryos are living human beings precisely because they possess the single defining feature of human life that is lost in the moment of death—the ability to function as a coordinated organism rather than merely as a group of living human cells. Effort and monetary value are only loosely correlated. Two people can work just as hard in useful roles and earn vastly different salaries. In an important sense, socialist intervention is more respectful of the principle that pay should be a function of effort than free market capitalism is.

Why blame the politicians for overspending when we're the ones who elected them in? If anybody tries to actually be fiscally responsible, they tend to find themselves voted out of office (see the reactions to austerity in Europe).

Agreed. I would point out though that complexity plays a role in the worth of a job. Chopping up firewood is not a complex as making furniture. It may very well be the stronger man is more capable to chop than the skilled man who is able to create something with greater utility. They're not independent though. The furniture maker needs the firewood to heat his shop or the power generated by burning one of the earth's resources.
The place where I take greatest issue is with those who are capable, but are unwilling to make use of their ability. The point of my sharing was to indicate that your efforts are worth something if you're willing to participate. There has to be some value to others though in what you do. I've seen many instances where someone thinks they have something of value, but no one else does. If you only use your house cleaning ability on your own house, it won't earn you anything. But if you find someone willing to pay you to clean their house, you have something someone else places value upon.
I am sensitive to the poor. The man who has should give to the man in genuine need. Socialist intervention just benefits the wrong people.Human embryos are living human beings precisely because they possess the single defining feature of human life that is lost in the moment of death—the ability to function as a coordinated organism rather than merely as a group of living human cells. It's a vicious circle. The ones who get government handouts don't want to lose that handout. So they keep voting for the wrong candidates. The politicians are more than happy to take other people's money to buy votes. See the Youtube video by Bill Whittle on The Vote Pump.
