      This is not evidence of collusion, you idiot. It was never said or implied the information was illegally obtained, and it is in no way illegal for a candidate or his staff to meet with a foreign official. Besides, the woman turned out to be a fraud.

      If you want collusion, how about Hillary colluding with Ukraine to dig up dirt on Trump.

        Apparently Trump Jr released the emails because NY Times told him they were about to release them.

        Apparently the eventual meeting with the Russian government official was at 4pm and lasted 30 minutes. Then at 4:40pm now-President Trump did his first tweet about emails. Guess he was in the loop after all and not totally ignorant of what his son, son-in-law, and campaign manager were doing in his own building.

        And gotta love the subject line of these emails. It is literally this:

        To: Jared Kushner; Paul Manafort

        Subject: FW: Russia - Clinton - private and confidential

        If Hollywood had invented this stuff for a movie, everyone would have said it was too blatant and not sophisticated enough for a movie plot.

          She wasn't a Russian government official, dumbass. And even if she was, it would not have been illegal for Trump or his people to meet with her, especially because the emails never said or implied there was anything illicit about the supposed information she ostensibly offered to divulge.

            But if we're really going to take this story at face value, which liberals seem inclined to do, then it has been revealed that Hillary's campaign was being illegally funded by the Russian government. Where are the headlines about that? Hmmm?

                Hillary had a D at the end of her name, so she is therefore innocent of all crimes and it's just proof of how sexist republicans really are to dare to be critical of Saint Hillary Clinton.

                  Technically, what they did is not technically illegally, but it proves they had knowledge the Russian government was supporting them (which they denied for a year), which explains why they won't sanction them for the attacks - because it was beneficial to them.

                  Where the rubber hits the road is this: if they had knowledge at some point later that the Russian government was conducting these espionage attacks, that's a very big deal.

                    Donald Trump Jr. received an email on June 3, 2016, promising dirt on Hillary Clinton. The information was described as being part of Russia's support for his father’s presidential bid. His reply? “I love it.” This is a direct offer by the Russian Government to support Trump Sr., presumably with a quid pro quo in mind and evidence of collusion, or at the very least a willingness by Trump Jr. to collude with the Russian Government.

                            There's a reason that 99% of legal advice is "don't answer that" / "say nothing". When was the last time you saw a lawyer run into the room and tell his client "tell them everything!"? Generally voluntarily releasing incriminating evidence falls into the category of "not smart".

                            Well given he's committed what seems to be a criminal act, his choices boil down to either try to hide it or don't. Neither are great options for him. Better would have been to report the situation immediately to the FBI when he received the first email saying the Russian government wanted to help the Trump campaign.

                            Not exactly. I think Pence is worse in the sense that Pence is more sociopathic and more competent. So I don't really want to see Trump replaced with Pence since Pence is more likely to achieve his terrible policies than Trump is. The best possible eventual outcome of the Trump unpresidency, IMO, would be the general collapse of the GOP as we know it.
