Good, because I am interested in both sides of that ancient debate.
"I think we may accept it as a rule that whenever a person's
religious conversation dwells chiefly, or even frequently,
on the faults of other people's religions, she/he is in a bad condition."
      -C.S. Lewis (Collected Letters Vol. 3 p. 209).

Do you have quotes from mainline Christians Jeff, or just heretics?

When I ask questions, it is to see if the Bible supports your doctrines... which it frequently does not.

And when I answer questions that ask what we believe and teach, I will continue to quote from any and all of the 4 Standard Works of the Church, for THAT represents our actual doctrine.

And I will look for evidence that shows that the doctrine can be supported in the early church, since your church claims to be a restoration...

Even with continuing revelation? Is there any doctrine that is NOT supported by the Standard Works?

You have to first supply the official authoritative list of what qualifies a Christian as a heretic, before that question can be answered. I "choose" to not recognize your subjective definitions of terms.

      2. Why did we forget who we were when we were born on Earth? Why not let us remember? is it something "built-in" to being born? and why did Jesus remember who He was? Why didn't HE forget?
Whether a being committed a sin at some point in its existence really has no bearing on whether it can be a "full-fledged God" as you call it. LDS believe that through the Atonement of Christ that our sins can be forgiven and we can be made completely clean. It is as though the sin was never committed. The beings that inhabit the Celestial Kingdom are not considered sinners. A sterile device whether manufactured sterile or made sterile later one does not matter. When it is sterile it is sterile. A perfect being is a perfect being. Whether that being made mistakes along the way to achieve perfection really does not matter. God the Father is a perfect being. He does not make mistakes or sin. That is really all that matters.

Why we forgot is simple. You can't formulate a good test if you give the person the answers while taking the test. Life is meant to be a test of faith and not knowledge. We past the test of doing the right thing with all the answers in plan view. Now we are on the bigger test which is to pass the test with a limited knowledge. Will we trust God and follow him with limited knowledge. We already showed the Father we could pass the tests with a full knowledge. We believe that Jesus did forget but was able to relearn a lot of it through revelation quite quickly. Jesus has to pass through the same channels as we did.

"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed.Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." -- Arthur Schopenhauer

"It is the customary fate of new truths to begin as heresies." -- Thomas Huxley

"The simple answer is that animals do have spirits and that through the redemption made by our Savior they will come forth in the resurrection to enjoy the blessing of immortal life." -- Joseph Fielding Smith:

"God made the tadpole and the ape, the lion and the elephant; but He did not make them in His own image, nor endow them with Godlike reason and intelligence. Nevertheless, the whole animal creation will be perfected and perpetrated in the Hereafter, each class in its "distinct order or sphere," and will enjoy "eternal felicity." That fact has been made plain in this dispensation." -- Lorenzo Snow:

My God never sinned. NEVER. And THAT is really all that matters. Well, that, and the fact that Jesus Christ will present me faultless to the Father in HIS own righteousness.

Since you and Jeff seem to be on this "academia" theme maybe you can tell me what college or university lets you take the test with the answers in full view, then lets you take the test "for real" after being "flash thingied".

I thought that LDS believed that Jesus started out as a god, and didn't have to "work His way up".

OK, after I wrote that it occurred to me that you consider the Standard Works an "open canon", yes? Would THAT be why your answer is no? Your Standard Works "change" to accommodate (or facilitate?) the changing doctrine?

That's the problem with some anti-LDS people: They attack before they really understand what it is they are attacking.
