A Glory Seed Devotional
A bench – a Portal…

The Bench.jpg

Yesterday while riding my bike in the Fort Gratiot Township Nature Trail I stopped to rest, sat down on a bench opened up my bible, and began reading in the book of Psalms. “Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!” (Psalms 105:1-4 ESV)

As I read the bench slowly became more than a bench; it became a portal opening up to another world. Suddenly the birds, the green grass, the trees, the flowers, the weeds, the sunshine, the blue sky, the gentle breezes, Gary, my bike, a passerby became a world where everything was an extension of the other. It was a portal to a world where I wasn’t an observer but an extension of everything I was experiencing. It was a portal into the presence of the Holy (Great) Spirit. And I found myself strengthened by everything I was experiencing.

About ten minutes later, I stood up placed my bible back into the pouch attached to my bike and began the journey home. Still enveloped by Aura of the world of the Holy Spirit seconds later I found myself missing Patti, my wife riding next to me and I felt terribly incomplete without her, and I began to understand that relationships are about being present with one another. Then I began seeing the bigger picture, something our Native American brothers and sisters have been telling us for hundreds of years we are all related, we are not superior to one another, we are all a part of the same world, the world of the Great (Holy) Spirit.

If you haven’t a special place that is portal to the World of the Holy (Great) Spirit than please seek one out and visit it often! “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.” (Psalms 107:1-3 ESV)

AMEN!

Grace and PEACE!
Gary
