Question is currently open to anyone who would like to give their answer.

Jeff, stop starting threads about other religions in the LDS area. Moving to Islam.

They believe that Jesus was just a prophet like any earlier one. Mohammed was the "seal of the prophets", and therefore the greatest one. Oddly enough this "seal" was likely a mole on his back that was rather large(or a birth mark). Maybe you should have asked this question in the Islam section though.

No. You were the perfect one to answer, C. Thanks.

      Currently?
      2 Tim 2:1-2

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

So if someone were to assert that Muslims believe that Jesus is the Messiah, what would you say in response to that person--that their understanding of Islam was not very good?

Maybe you should have asked this question in the Islam section though.
Maybe, but someone in this forum stated:

"How exactly are LDS "obviously Christian"? Is it that they believe that Jesus is the Messiah? Muslims believe He is too..." so I decided to ask here. And I think OC was correct--you were a good candidate to answer it.

Muslims refer to Jesus as the 'messiah', calling him 'Isa Al-Masih'

Actually that quote is accurate. Muslims believe that Jesus was the Messiah, but they have no idea what that actually means. Just as LDS have basically redefined God, Muslims have redefined Messiah.

So Muslims define "Jesus is the Messiah" as....?

Basically to them it means that He was just a prophet. They take Messiah to it's extreme literal interpretation of the original Hebrew of the word which roughly translates as "anointed". Of course this is completely contradictory to everything we know about the promised Messiah for the Jews, but they don't seem to understand that.

Okay, that seems to be a satisfactory answer to the question. Thanks. I don't see a need for further discussion of this topic.
