"The 19-year-old Washington Nationals outfielder quipped "That's a clown question, bro" to a Toronto TV reporter who asked if he planned to take advantage of Canada's lower drinking age after belting a long home run in a win over the Blue Jays"

Great comeback. I can see using it on Tweb---a LOT.
"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in c\taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning."

As a baseball fan, I'm looking forward to seeing how Bryce Harper's career unfolds. He is a seriously talented young man.

This made me think of my buddy, the Biker Dude.
The night I led him to a saving knowledge of Jesus, he was pretty well covered with tattoos. Some of them were "not very nice". But two things did NOT happen that night.
1) Jesus didn't say ..."sorry, I can't save you, you have tattoos"
2) When Biker Dude prayed and asked Jesus to forgive him of his sins, the tattoos did not dissolve and disappear.
What DID happen was that "one bad hombre" began living for Jesus when he HAD been serving the Devil.
I'm praying the same thing will happen when my one son-in-law gets saved. He's both a tattooer and a tattooie, but he's getting close to giving his life to Jesus. One day soon, I believe, he'll pray, like the Biker Dude did ... "Jesus, will you forgive me of my sin and come into my heart and save me?"
And THAT, bro, is no clown question!

Do you think tattoos are inherently sinful or is it an issue of what they're depicting?

Not sure who you were asking, but I'll take a stab at that. I'm "old school", and I look back to the Jewish prohibition of marking your body. I don't think it means you are sinful, but I prefer not to have tattoos. I honestly don't look down on somebody who decides to do that -- my other son-in-law has a very neat "globe and anchor" tattoo he got from his time in the Marine Corps.
It DOES seem, however, that many young people are cheating themselves out some career paths by the choice of tattoos they obtain and the places where they have them on public display.
Your thoughts?

Re: "That's a Clown Question, Bro."
I heard a discussion on one baseball show..don't remember which one...that the guy has really caused some issues with other players. His attitude towards those who've been around awhile, as they were reporting, was not one that was winning him any friends; already talk of him being a "locker room cancer".

I've seen this as similar to the dietary laws...no longer binding; but I will admit I've not done a "dig deep" study on the issue.
For me it comes down more to common sense....similar to what you mentioned about the choice of the tattoo and the location....I can see some regret down the road for a few tattoies based on the what and/or where of their choice for "body art"It is impossible to defeat an ignorant man in argument. - William G. Yeah, I made a deal with my daughters when they were teenagers.... if they chose to get a Tat, draw a picture of it, put a date on it, and wait SIX MONTHS to see if you still think that's a good idea.
One of them took that to heart had has a little yellow rose (The yellow rose of Texas) on her ankle.... the other one ... well.... at least, when she's dressed for work, you don't see any.

Re: "That's a Clown Question, Bro."
My nephew knows people who know him and went to high school with him. They say he isn't arrogant at all, and that reporters try to bait him into arrogant statements all the time. He knows he has God-given talent, and that he is immature in relation to the older players. But one thing my nephew said that his friends were adament about is that he respects those who have been there and have experienced more than him.

And LDS. His refusal to drink booze just because he's in a place where it's legal for 19-year-olds to drink, is getting attention in the press. If it turns out that the claims that he publicly uses profanity turn out to be true, then he might not be the best example of a young LDS in that respect.
Here is a story of another LDS who seems to have dealt with fame in an exemplary manner, and he even refused greater fame because being a good example was more important to him:
