A Glory Seed Devotional
Your story is of Eternal Significance…

If the scriptures are written records of God’s involvement in the lives of the people of the scriptures then does it not make sense that at some basic level we too have the capacity to be writers of scriptures? At some basic level, is not our written journal our own personal scriptures, our own personal “My Story – Jesus Story”? While “My Story – Jesus Story” may not be as history/world transforming as the Bible is or we may not be as spiritual powerful as Isaiah or as profound as the Apostle Paul but never-the-less hasn’t your interaction with Jesus and Jesus’ interaction with you been life transforming for you?
One of the “neat” things about the bible is its ability to defy time. While there’s a lot, of historical stories in the bible, there are many stories that are just as powerful today (and beyond) as they were when the writers first experienced them. The same can be said about our written journals (for those of us who journal) there are times when I re-read mine when what I’ve recorded impacts me as if I’d just experienced them (sometimes good experiences, sometimes not so good experiences).
The most important story in your life are not the stories and writings of the bible (as important as they are) the most important story in your life is your own story. All too often we “sell” ourselves short by thinking the life’s story of others is better or more powerful than ours, when we do that we also are “selling” Jesus short. Jesus, interacting in your life is just as important and powerful as was his interaction with Peter, or Matthew, or John, or Moses, or Isaiah, or Gary Piper, or Billy Graham.
Your life’s story is valuable in fact it is priceless but you don’t need to be an accomplished author, what you write in “My Story – Jesus Story” (journal) doesn’t need to be perfect in style and grammar, you don’t even need perfect spelling, the only thing it needs to be is from the heart! When you record your story don’t write it as a term paper, or a thesis statement that will be read by a “high power” college English Professor or a group of PHD’s instead write it to be read by YOU after all it’s your story not theirs or anyone else’s. You wouldn’t even be able to read mine if I gave it to you because my penmanship is very poor and I write like I talk sometimes getting words all messed up.
FYI… A journal is not only a record of how far you’ve come in life it’s also a record of how far you’ve yet to go. In case you don’t know the difference between a diary and a journal – a diary is a record of what you did, a journal is a record of what you and Jesus did.
YOU are important! YOUR story is important! It is life changing so why not keep a record of it?
Grace and PEACE!
Gary

My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
