      The Night Land

Has anyone here read The Night Land by William Hope Hodgson?

I think it's one of the most incredible works of fiction I've ever read. His portrayal of a world plunged into perpetual darkness and the last remnants of humanity at the mercy of cosmic forces stays with the reader long after he or she has finished the novel.

I think it's a testament to Hodgson's immense skill as a writer that the story is so compelling, despite the fact that he breaks just about every rule of good writing I've learned in college-level composition. Those who've read the novel probably know what I mean.
I've come to realize that Ivo just might be right about more things than we give him credit for. And yes, that is scary. -Little Shepherd

On topic. I haven't read any of his work, but the concept sounds intriguing

      Re: The Night Land

I would heartily recommend checking it out if you have the time. The novel is in the public domain; several websites have it available to read for free.

The only caveat though is that Hodgson wrote it in a pseudo-17th century style. If you can get past that, the novel is excellent.
