      Asian-Americans and African-Americans

I have Asian-American friends who were born and raised in America. Moreover, they speak excellent English and they speak it without an accent. I also have friends who are African-American. I have noticed that people ask my Asian-American friends the following questions: Have you ever been to Asia? and Do you speak any of the Asian languages?
However, I have never heard anyone ask my African-American friends questions such as the following: Have you ever been to Africa and Do you speak any of the African languages?

Why do you think that my Asian-American friends are asked those questions, but not my African-American friends?

      Re: Asian-Americans and African-Americans

Statistically speaking, a much higher percentage of Asian-Americans in the US are first or second generation (in the US) than African-Americans.

Thank you. That is a reasonable explanation.
