Genesis 22 question

Genesis 22: 2 And He said: 'Take now thy son, thine only son, whom thou lovest, even Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.'

I need to know the Hebrew behind thine only son and then translated back into English.

Could it be "the one and only"?

My question stems from the fact that Abraham had two sons -- why "only" or "one and only"?

This had to do with the fact that Isaac was the son promised to Abraham by God, and was Abraham's rightful heir. Isaac was Abraham's only rightful heir, and was to be considered his "only" son(I'm not saying that Ishmael didn't inherit anything, but that because of God's plan, he wasn't part of the covenant that God had made with Abraham). So basically this comes down to the covenant with Abraham. I hope that this helped answer your question.

The pronoun "your" is a rendering of the suffix ךָ (kā) that is attached to the adjective & substantive ‏‏יָחִיד (yᵉḥîd) which means only (HALOT and Holladay) and is used "especially of an only son" (BDB).
