Dad's Stainglass Picture.jpg
A Glory Seed Devotional
An Open Window…
Every morning when I wake up and make my way to my chair (throne) sit down then lean back, I see a stained glass picture of Jesus kneeling in the garden the night of his arrest. I know the first thing I should think of is Jesus’ sacrifice for me but it isn’t instead I see my dad bent over and looking for just the right piece of stained glass for just the right spot. I think about how much my dad loved Jesus and how much he loved his family.
When I look at the picture I also see how it represents our lives because our lives are a blended mixture of different colored experiences some bright, some not so bright, and some dark. I see how our Creator painstakingly assembles each and every experience in such a way that when we take the time and look deep enough at the collection of multi-colored experiences we see them not as a random conglomeration of experiences but as the work of a Master Artist.
When I look at the picture in my imagination, I see and hear Jesus praying and I see a beam of light stretching from the heavens and I know the Father is hanging on each and every word coming not from Jesus’ lips but from his heart. And I know some of the words Jesus is praying are for YOU and for ME! “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17:20-24 ESV)
I love you dad. Thanks for the more than just a stained glass picture of Jesus, thanks for the window into heaven.
I love you Jesus. Thanks for praying for me and thank you for giving your life for me.
I love you Father. Thanks for hanging not only on Jesus’ every word but thank you for accepting his sacrifice on my behalf.
I love you JP. Thanks for bringing it altogether for me, you truly are Jesus Presence in my life. (Note: JP is my personal name for the Holy Spirit.)
Grace and PEACE!
Gary
