A Glory Seed Devotional
My Jesus Foundation Building Plan…
The strength of any structure begins with the foundation. That is true with buildings, that is true with our families, with our churches, with our work places, with our government, with our cities, our individual lives, the Glory Seed Devotionals I write. Jesus in Matthew’s gospel said, "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it." (Matthew 7:24-27 ESV)
When I think about foundations, I think of the two basic types. The first type of foundation is fixed such as the foundations our homes are built on. The second type of foundation is vibrant/active/deepening such as the foundations upon which our lives are built on.
Jesus is my foundation!
My parents at a very early age instilled that on me and even though I wandered away from Jesus, he never stopped being my foundation. And it wasn’t until I began a Jesus Foundation Building Plan (JFBP) that I began to have a sense of how much I depended on him. Recently I (by divine design) happened on John 6:29 which made my JFBP five dimensional (5D, height, width, depth, strength, trustworthy). “Jesus answered them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.’”
When I read John 6:29 I discovered that not only solidified my personal mission statement “To make Jesus as real to as many people as I can” but it also outlined the “how to” proceed in building my life on Jesus. Now when I read it I do so slightly different than John records it (I hope Jesus don’t mind) I read it this way, “This is the work of Gary, to continue believing and building on Jesus who God has sent into his world with the gift of eternal life.”
WOW! I think I just rewrote my personal mission statement! Now all I need to do is to remember that mission statements are what we do not just what we believe.
Do you have a Jesus Foundation Building Plan?
Grace and PEACE!
Gary

My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
