Because of this, Gates stressed that “Europe must make it more difficult for Africans to reach the continent via the current transit routes”.

They're just following the lead of the Democrat party. The AP recently ran a story about how Trump can't shake the Russian thing, but that's only because liberals refuse to let it go. They think it's their winning ticket for the midterms, so they resuscitate it every chance they get.
