      Question LDS Soteriology?

I've been trying to figure out which one we members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are subscribed to, but so far I haven't figured it out. I've noticed we fit in with parts of various views (such as Pelagianism and Open Theism) but we don't seem to be concrete in any sort Soteriology. Anyone have any ideas? Your responses will be appreciated.

You know just one thought, not many people adhere strictly to one Soteriology. For Example, me as an RCC I have some classical theology, some thomism, some molinism and a so on. It maybe that nothing really fits every LDS belief perfectly, you might have mixed soteriologies in one system.

I think that is a great point. I see some Pelagianism in our doctrines, as do others:

"It is doubtful that many Latter-day Saints would think of themselves as "Pelagians," or express their beliefs in the traditional terms used in the theological debates surrounding Pelagianism.[citation needed] However, McMurrin's statement is supported by Mormon theology to the extent that it teaches that the Atonement of Jesus Christ has overcome the effects of "original sin" for all mankind....Additionally, Latter-day Saints theology differs from Pelagianism in that it teaches that personal, individual perfection is only possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ." (wiki article on Pelagianism)

I also see Arminianism in our doctrines.
"I think we may accept it as a rule that whenever a person's
religious conversation dwells chiefly, or even frequently,
on the faults of other people's religions, she/he is in a bad condition."
      -C.S. Lewis (Collected Letters Vol. 3 p. 209).

I think it has shifted over the years.
      2 Tim 2:1-2

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

      Re: LDS Soteriology?

The problem with discussing LDS soteriology is that you mean different things when you say "saved" than we do. We say saved is ultimately being in the presence of God forever. You have 3 levels of heaven with different presences that most everyone gets to enjoy, with the top 2 as reward for the hardest workers in your religion. The two are nearly incompatible with each other, making discussion from either side difficult at best.

True, Bill. However, I am mostly trying to figure out what we subscribe to the most. Because there's a lot of different opinions and ideas when it comes to soteriology. And we seem to have a few in the mixing pot.
