Spartacus, you are getting all bent out of shape for nothing. There are plenty of things on the screwball thread I disagree with and would be proud to be nominated for. It is at least half tongue in cheek, and you are just coming off like an uptight jerk for getting so bent out of shape about it. It seems insecure. Just my observation. When I see something I disagree with, I may mention it, but then I move on. This isn't a crusade dude, chill.

Screwball to this Roman Catholic Church in India. They don't like it when people debunk their "miracles." They'll arrest and prosecute you, in fact.
There is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of 'Heaven' ridiculous by saying they do not want 'to spend eternity playing harps'. The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them.

      Re: July 2012 Screwballs

      Prior disopensationalist gets special counseling:

      Peter Grice says:
      07/06/2012 at 10:59 am

I am predisposed to liking JP Holding, yet this “stick your head between your backside” trash from him is fairly consistent, and seldom, if ever, appropriate. I know I represent a significant number of online Christian apologists who think you have clearly crossed a very clear line, JP, and find your supposed biblical self-justifications less than compelling. Receive it – or not – yet it remains.
I guess he's right. I shoulda told him I'd spread dung on his face instead.

It's funny how these whiners think just pointing out that they "don't find the arguments compelling" constitutes some sort of real argument, too.

      ADDED:

This is for documentation only. I left a link to this thread on the dispy's blog and he erased it. He also closed comments, and this AFTER he said:

I have actually met JP and I knew he was an intellectual. I really wanted to put my views to the test by challenging someone who could put up a vigorous debate, instead all I got was child like bullying tactics and insults. I expected more, I had no idea he was so immature.
Sorry, but this is an outright lie. The fact is, his blog entries do link to my article on the Olivet Discourse, but he does not mention my name in the first entry he made (I am named in the second one, only after I showed up at his blog), and I found out about this only through a third party who left a comment on my blog.. So he wasn't "challenging" me for debate.

Oh...and to give everyone an idea just what kind of loon this guy is....here's a book he co-authored:

      http://www.amazon.com/Petrus-Romanus...1598984&sr=1-1

For more than 800 years scholars have pointed to the dark augury having to do with "the last Pope." The prophecy, taken from St. Malachy's "Prophecy of the Popes," is among a list of verses predicting each of the Roman Catholic popes from Pope Celestine II to the final pope, "Peter the Roman," whose reign would end in the destruction of Rome. First published in 1595, the prophecies were attributed to St. Malachy by a Benedictine historian named Arnold de Wyon, who recorded them in his book, Lignum Vitć. Tradition holds that Malachy had been called to Rome by Pope Innocent II, and while there, he experienced the vision of the future popes, including the last one, which he wrote down in a series of cryptic phrases. According to the prophecy, the next pope (following Benedict XVI) is to be the final pontiff, Petrus Romanus or Peter the Roman. The idea by some Catholics that the next pope on St. Malachy's list heralds the beginning of "great apostasy" followed by "great tribulation" sets the stage for the imminent unfolding of apocalyptic events, something many non-Catholics would agree with. This would give rise to a false prophet, who according to the book of Revelation leads the world's religious communities into embracing a political leader known as Antichrist. In recent history, several Catholic priests--some deceased now--have been surprisingly outspoken on what they have seen as this inevitable danger rising from within the ranks of Catholicism as a result of secret satanic "Illuminati-Masonic" influences. These priests claim secret knowledge of an multinational power elite and occult hierarchy operating behind supranatural and global political machinations. Among this secret society are sinister false Catholic infiltrators who understand that, as the Roman Catholic Church represents one-sixth of the world's population and over half of all Christians, it is indispensable for controlling future global elements in matters of church and state and the fulfillment of a diabolical plan they call "Alta Vendita," which is set to assume control of the papacy and to help the False Prophet deceive the world's faithful (including Catholics) into worshipping Antichrist. As stated by Dr. Michael Lake on the front cover, Catholic and evangelical scholars have dreaded this moment for centuries. Unfortunately, as readers will learn, time for avoiding Peter the Roman just ran out.

Didn't notice that. But I ordered a used copy so I can take it down a few notches.

It was ranked #758 in books overall when I looked earlier, and has something like 128 reviews written on it (a significant majority were 5 star, of course).

I've sent you some info on Malachy. From what I can find, it looks like this prophecy was buried in the Vatican archives until 400 years after the fact when it was uncovered. Sounds suspicious to me.

Well, technically, she's not the only person ever, since I had shunyadragon on my ignore list for a while, but I removed him since his ambiguity and total inability to reason logically is a far too amusing spectacle to pass up on.
