Yeah, corn doesn't do so good around here cause it burns up too fast in the Texas sun. My DAD, however, lives in Southern Ohio, and is surrounded by Seneca Chief SWEET corn that is absolutely delicious! When we go to visit him, we really "pig out" on corn!

Hmmm. That was (and still is) pretty standard at all government schools in South Africa (and most, if not all private schools).

Boys hair had to be short. not touching the ears or your collar (and SA has school uniforms so all shirts have a proper collar ... especially winter uniform which includes a tie). no part of it was allowed to be long enough to tie up. it was not allowed to be braided or dyed in any way. if it was shaved it was not allowed to be shorter than a #4 cut. It had to also look tidy. Boys also had to be clean shaven (although Muslim/Hindu government schools did allow Muslim pupils to grow a beard).
Girls weren't allowed to have very short hair. If it was long enough to tie up it had to be. They were allowed to do normal plaits, and at most they were allowed to have two.
Allowances were of course made for any medical situations.

And I did my high school in the post-Apartheid era, so I didn't go to a whites only High School. The rules were applied to all.

Interesting. I really need to visit South Africa.

Meanwhile, I can understand public schools having standards for that, but when you're a Church, and trying to reach out to the unchurched, you don't have that luxury. Maybe I'm just weird, but I like to reach out to the folks who don't necessarily look like or smell like or dress like me.
