Here’s mud out of your eye…

You are who you are but you are not who you will be! Wanna know why?
Hey! You’re absolutely right!
You are who you are but you are not who you will be – because God isn’t through with you yet!
“But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:16-18 ESV)
“The veil is removed… where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom… beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree to glory to another.” I know you’ve heard something like this before but it’s worth repeating and in fact, it’s something we should remind ourselves each day, and to get you started read these words out loud, “I am a life in progress.” Please excuse me for using the word life instead of work but work are acts we perform and life is to be lived.
Veil’s inhibit our ability to see. I suspect we all have some idea of what a veil is but here are a few we may not see as veils, sin, stubbornness, pride, selfishness, prejudice, greed, low self-esteem, I can’t, lack of confidence, I am not loved, he or she is better than I am, and the list could go on. One of my favorite veil stories from the bible uses the mud instead of a veil.
“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man's eyes with the mud and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.” (John 9:5-7 ESV)
That story is not about a blind man over two thousand years ago, it’s about you and it’s about me today, tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day, and you get the idea! Paul wrote, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Don’t concentrate on “all things” because there are some things it is physically impossible for us to do but pour your life into “through Christ” because he is leading you somewhere where only he and you can go. I like these words from a Tom T. Hall song, “Me and Jesus got our thing going… Me and Jesus got it all worked out.”
“You are NOT a life in regress. You are NOT a life in recess. You ARE a life in progress! Therefore, go and follow Jesus not in the old ways but in the new ways of life.
Grace and PEACE!
