Some time ago I watched the "songified" version before I saw this one. I wasn't sure how real it was but after watching the actual prayer(?) my first thought was "what was this pastor thinking"? Seriously?? I'd have felt somewhat better if he had given greater attention to praying for safety in the race. I'm ashamed to admit that we Baptists, like everyone else, do and say some stupid things from time to time.

On the other subject of gun control I'm continually amazed at how many people ignore the basic facts of human nature that a bad guy is more liable to mess with someone who he thinks he can easily overpower than one he thinks can make it difficult for him to commit a crime; it might just give him pause if he knows his intended victim is packing heat, knows how and is willing to use it if necessary.
Love the truth; follow it no matter where it leads; embrace it no matter how much it costs; accept no substitutes; and be satisfied with nothing less than the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Perfect Embodiment of the Truth; Love and follow Him!

"Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)

Every church has idiots in it. But when I first heard this prayer, I wondered if maybe the pastor's intent was more entertainment than just pure praise and gratitude for blessings. If so, then it puts what he said into some perspective. You know, like auctioneers if they're good at their job keep the auction from getting boring by livening it up with some entertaining antics.

Yes, and in fact interviews with prisoners showed that burglars tend to TARGET homes they think are safe to break into. When asked whether they would break into a home where there was probably an armed homeowner, a very high % of them answered "no."

Maybe that's why Kennessaw, GA saw a dramatic reduction in burglaries and violent crimes after a law was passed that requires all citizens to own at least one gun.

Actually I like the songified version of the prayer. And yes, he was using a bit of humor in his prayer. I am sure God has a sense of humor. He made Jeff after all.

And maybe the "weirdness" of his prayer will make you think twice next time you're tempted to cast stones at other churches. Because you will realize that when a pot accuses a kettle, he's still got 3 fingers pointing back at his own "team."

Maybe He made me to be a thorn in your side, to keep make you humble.
