Greetings - I've read some of the pages in the "lets make internet pron illegal" thread and am dismayed at the lack of condemnation of porn on this a Christian website.

Why I don't know. But here is a chance to express your condemnation.

I'll be first .. . Yes I think porn is disgusting and sick and people who look at it are disgusting and sick. As a Christian there is no doubt in my mind that it is sinful and degenerate in Gods eyes.

* Some oppose porn, but concentrate on other, more important matters.
* Some oppose porn, but acknowledge that American law makes it difficult to illegalize (and also acknowledge that an international Internet means American laws would be useless).
* Some oppose porn, but are aware that until an individual is "redeemed from their sin," banning individual sins is pointless.
* Some oppose porn, but know themselves to have problems in that or other areas, so avoid the topic to prevent temptation.
* Some oppose porn, but feel that praising God far exceeds any problems of this earth.

Even the realm of Christendom is far more complex than you know--not to mention humanity as a whole.

I am vehemently against pornography and think it has a dangerous affect on our society. While I wouldn't object to it being banned, I think a far more productive endeavour would be to vocally point out its effects on marriages, on women, and on viewers, and how it represents a view of sexuality that falls far short of what God intends for us in marriage.

I have no particular approval or problem with it. I certainly consider someone looking at porn and ... attending to their needs by themselves as preferable to casual sex.

I am of the opinion that a couple making love (where there is love involved, not just lust or momentary convenience) is a sacred act, and that mere sex for momentary lust or convenience is a cheap imitation. That being said, I do not condemn those who just have mere sex as guilty of any particular moral wrong--any more than I condemn someone who buys a suit from a discount store because they can't afford Armani. But it is most certainly not the best option.
