Eldest Daughter of Ishmael?
1 Book of Nephi 16:7*And it came to pass that I, Nephi, took one of the daughters of Ishmael to wife; and also, my brethren took of the daughters of Ishmael to wife; and also Zoram took the eldest daughter of Ishmael to wife.
Wasn't this supposed to have occurred LONG after Ishmael had died? How could he possibly have married Ishmael's eldest daughter? Also the Bible does not mention Ishmael having a daughter at all. Now I know that the other "daughters of Ishmael" were supposed to be his descendants the way it is worded, but the wording does not support that in the case I have quoted above. Anyone got an answer on this one?

Re: Eldest Daughter of Ishmael?
If you are confusing two different men who both happened to be named Ishmael, that may explain the apparent problem you discovered.
Question: Did you find this problem on your own, from your own reading of the BOM?
I ask because I haven't seen this particular issue raised before, so I am guessing that you didn't get it from one of the "attack" sites' lists of "Reasons why the BOM has to be fiction."
Never mind, I just read your other thread announcing that you have begun reading the BOM, so obviously you found the issue on your own. That is commendable."I think we may accept it as a rule that whenever a person's
religious conversation dwells chiefly, or even frequently,
on the faults of other people's religions, she/he is in a bad condition."
-C.S. Lewis (Collected Letters Vol. 3 p. 209).

Re: Eldest Daughter of Ishmael?
I should have thought of that before I posted, and it is a good answer, no need to keep this thread open.

It for some reason just seemed like when they had been earlier been referring to the "daughters of Ishmael" I though that they were speaking of descendants of the line of Ishmael, who sere specifically women, and it seemed to be continuing down that line of reasoning up until the passage I posted. I think that maybe I was more tired than I thought when reading it, and I didn't see what should have been easy for me to figure out, sorry.

It can get confusing when a book mentions people with the same name as other people.

on the faults of other people's religions, she/he is in a bad condition."
