Fair enough--I may very well be guilty as charged!
But it does still leave us with the question. Was it just, right, or honest of those who made such an accusation towards President Bush? If not ... why is it just, right, or honest to make that accusation against President Obama?Life sometimes needs to be grabbed by the throat and beaten with a lead pipe. ~ Sir Longpost, a good friend of mine.

Re: Chris Matthews: "Obama is perfect."
Whether the accusations against Bush are honest or not has no bearing on whether the accusations against Obama are. It is a logical fallacy and a rather obvious one. Plus, weren't you the one whining that I was taking your hyperbole too literally in the parable of the brown eyed cow (or whatever it was called) thread?
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: Chris Matthews: "Obama is perfect."
Ok, so I don't actually have a dog in this fight (with being a SA exPat who can apply for Kiwi citizenship in Feb).
But My dislike of Obama has nothing to do with his race (as I've commented before where I come from he wouldn't be considered black, he would be considered to be coloured....and my president has 3 more wives than he has).
But my dislike of him has everything to do with what some of his policies are (won't go into rehashing them).
If you're going to dislike a politician there should, apart from personality clashes, really be only two reasons: 1. policy, 2. whether or not they have been excessively hypocritical (all polly's are hypocritical on some level)"If you can ever make any major religion look absolutely ludicrous, chances are you haven't understood it"

Re: Chris Matthews: "Obama is perfect."
Biblical prohibitions tend not to affect JZ much. After both his corruption and rape trials concluded he had cleansing ceremonies which included sacrificing something to the Ancestors (can't rememeber if it was a goat or a bull, most likely a bull as Zuma is a weathly man).
And he finished off the celebrations for the ANC's centenary (African National Congress, former terrorist organisation now the ruling political party) by sacrificing a black bull to the Ancestors.
Would your president do that at a Democrat Convention?"If you can ever make any major religion look absolutely ludicrous, chances are you haven't understood it"

Re: Chris Matthews: "Obama is perfect."
Bush was disappointing, but Obama is pretty much what I expected from looking into his past. The only good to come out of Obama was the election of a black man as president, but - as has been pointed out to me more than once - Obama is not really a black man. "Thewriteranon" and his contribution not withstanding I see nothing right that Obama has done.
