What is this forum?
Hi all, I am relatively new here. I am confused about what exactly this forum is. It is listed as a "Judaism" forum, yet
at the top I see two links for counter-missionary sites. I see people discussing converting to Judaism, yet
others who are speaking of Messianic churches and quoting the New Testament.
Can someone please clarify exactly what this site is? Jewish? Chrisitan? Messianic? An open are to discuss
anything and everything related to Judaism? And if that's so, why the counter-missionary links?
I did post several years ago (although I don't know why it says I have 83 posts, I think I have like 6), haven't been here in awhile, and am totally confused about what this place is :)
Many thanks!

Re: What is this forum?
TheologyWeb is a Christian-owned-and-run website dedicated to the discussion and debating of theology, though it also has sections simply to discuss more mundane topics and to have fun(well, fun that doesn't involve debating theology).
The World Religions section is open to all theists to discuss the religion in the subforum. Since you're here, we'll use this section as an example(though there are separate sub-forums for Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, and a few other non-Christian religions as well). In this area, the only requirement is that the topic have to do with the religion(in this case, Judaism) the sub-forum is named after. It may be Jews discussing aspects of the religion or Jewish culture with other Jews. It may be Jews discussing and debating aspects of their religion with non-Jewish theists(most often done with Christians). It may be non-Jews of any religion discussing and debating aspects of modern Judaism with other non-Jews(though that is rare, it's certainly allowed). But the key topic in this area is Judaism.
Here I am!

Shalom Chavak
This website is owned and run by Christians. I was originally invited here to explain aspects of Judaism to Christians. However, most threads devolve into Christians explaining to me, what Judaism really means. I basically gave up attempting to explain Judaism because most participants here aren't interested in learning about true Judaism. Most posters here are either Christians or Messianic Christians that are only interested in sharing the news about their deity. This is not a website to learn about Judaism.Deut 10:12 And now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your G-d, demand of you? Only to fear the Lord, your G-d, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, and to worship the Lord, your G-d, with all your heart and with all your soul, 13. to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes, which I command you this day, for your good.
Micah 6:6. With what shall I come before the Lord, bow before the Most High G-d? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with yearling calves? 7. Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with myriad streams of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8. He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the Lord demands of you; but to do justice, to love loving-kindness, and to walk discreetly with your G-d.

Re: What is this forum?
All of the above. This basically an evangelical Christian site, so the things you observed are par for the course. Nonetheless this section is one of the more interesting to me to interact and learn from Jews about judaism, and observe the relationship dialogue between Jews and Christians.

Re: What is this forum?
Okay, that all makes sense.....yes I figured it out it wasn't a discussion only for Jews, and that it's not the place
to learn about Judaism. Seems to be all kinds of discussions concerning Judaism, and as long as people come here
and realize it's not a "jewish" site, that's cool.
