Awe, so you're going to throw up Bible verses, as some sort of passive-aggressive attack upon me, but get on me when I respond to them. Back to the subject of the thread. I believe the headliner is like something from rag journalism. There is a point though to the significant problem the majority of Christians outright deny the science of evolution, and a very large percentage of the others accept it only partially and conditionally. The percentages who accept evolution is also proportional to education, degree level, and profession, as well as religious belief. Outside Christianity, only extreme beliefs in Hinduism like Hare Krishna (including John Lennon), and some sects of Islam, the rest of the world and 99.9% of the scientists in the fields related to evolution completely accept it without reservation.

If there is not a very real problem here, enlighten me why the rejection of evolution is so closely related to religious belief, and ah . . . level of education.

Your point is valid. Evolution is hard for Christians to stomach. On the surface, even a bit below the surface, it seems contrary to what we believe to be true about how and why God made us. It is also used and couched by many unbelievers as evidence the Bible is not true, as evidence God did not make man in His own image, as evidence there is no need for God in explaining the origins of ourselves and the universe. I have been able to come to terms with it, but if the evidence for it were not so strong, I would not have. It is not the first conclusion one would arrive at reading scripture
