Male - AgnosticKen Miller Discusses Possible Upcoming Creationist Flap
I love when Ken Miller prognosticates juicy creationist controversies.....
http://www.slate.com/articles/health...m_.single.html"I do not believe that just because you're opposed to abortion, that that means you're pro-life. In fact, you're morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed. That's not pro-life; that's pro-birth." Re: Ken Miller Discusses Possible Upcoming Creationist Flap
Just in case anyone is really curious about Piyush ("Bobby") Jindal's political positions, he's made them pretty clear. He endorses, and has a 100% perfect voting record supporting, every single far-right and religious-right cause or policy he can find. Opposes abortion, opposes stem cell research, opposes teaching good science, opposes same-sex marriage, opposes the fairness doctrine, supports the NRA, runs the least transparent state administration in the nation.
Jindal was raised as a Hindu, and converted to Catholicism in high school. As Ken Miller says, certainly his political positions have been extremely expedient in one of the most backward states in the country, and maybe Jindal knows better, but the signs are not good.
It is interesting to notice that the LSEA intended to get creationism into public schools has so far met with no success in four years, as attested by a small army of people ready to bring a Kitzmiller type suit at the first sign of unconstitutional acts. Maybe this is why he is now prepared to hand out tax money to private schools that promise to "correct the lies" in biology textbooks.

Here are some statistics. And while we're at it, here we read that:
The entire 50-state ranking list can be found here.WASHINGTON -- Louisiana ranks dead last on a new composite index comparing how the fifty states fare on measures of economic vitality, education, health, crime and governance. The "Camelot Index" is issued annually by Federal Funds Information for States, a non-partisan subscription service created by the National Governors Association and the National Conference of State Legislatures, which tracks and reports on the fiscal impact of federal budget and policy decisions on state budgets and programs.

Still doesn't justify your labeling of the state as "backwards."

Re: Ken Miller Discusses Possible Upcoming Creationist Flap
Well, what would you think might qualify a state as backwards? This particular composite included health, economics, education, crime, and transparency of government. To me, this is the very essence of backwards.
Used to be, the state motto of Alabama was "Thank God for Mississippi", because in all these quality of life measures Alabama ranked 49th and Mississippi ranked 50th. It's nice to see that inspired leadership has hauled Louisiana all the way to the bottom. Thank God for Louisiana! And now they're doing their best to preach "intelligent design" in science classes, in private schools subsidized by the general public. Onward and downward!

If the state is commited to reversing the gains of biological discovery based on fake controversy cooked up by religious authors and clergy, that indeed qualifies as backwards.
It's also just a term to describe the severity of the situation, and I doubt was meant to insult every living citizen in Louisiana.

Absolutely that's what he meant !!!
Haven't you gotten it yet? If an entity - be it a person, a city or a state -
is opposed to Mother Evolution in any way, then that automatically means
that that entity is "backwards".
Geesh - I would have thought that everybody knew that by now.

I'm very happy to see that there remains a trace of honesty amongst
you people. What I mean is, you have just accepted that opposition
to Mother Evolution is equated to "backwardness". That, ladies and
gents, is the true spirit of scientific integrity. NOT !!!

I guess this is what happens when you buy a diploma rather than earn one. You have no clue what education means or what it produces. What we're seeing here is a Free Home Demonstration of the result of ignorance. You could not find a more stellar illustration of "backwards" if you combed the net for months.

I'm trying to guess how much you paid for the help with the "hard" words
in your post above. For you, by "hard" I mean those with more than one
syllable. You are a pathetic specimen, phank. If you were a rat in a lab,
you would have been destroyed and dissected a long time ago. At least
studying your internal organs would have some use. Why don't you do
everyone here a favor and take a long vacation - you stink up the place.
