1. The thread owner can limit who can participate in the first post. They can say "Only Christians" or "Only people who wear blue jeans" "no spamming" or whatever. IF they have a history of problems with certain posters, they may request that those people not participate. But this is not to be taken to extremes and can be denied by moderator decision if we believe it is being abused. In other words, you can't just use this power to keep any critics out of your thread so you can "win"

I support protectionism. Free-trade & globalisation is a right-wing thing.

It would be nice to see Trump and his family following their own motto and having the products they make and sell made in America rather than in China and Mexico. Spicer had some convoluted arguments for why it was "inappropriate" for the media to ask during 'Made in America' week why Trump Ties weren't made in America. The Trump team don't seem to have any actual interest in supporting American-made products, and this 'Made in America Week' seems like a publicity stunt that rings hollow.

There is an old cold war joke trying to show the difference in the freedom of speach in Russia and the USA.

It starts of with a Russian claiming he enjoys the same freedom of speach as an American. The American answers that he can go in front of the white house and scream: "The American president is an idiot" without having to go to prison for that. The Russian says "Yes, that is exactly my point. I can do the same in my country. I can go to Kreml and scream 'The American president is an idiot' and neither I will have to go to prison for that".

It is fine on occasion if you have a specific reason you don't want certain people in a specific thread, but you can't do it in almost every thread you start.
