Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh...
“Because I can,” God.
Shalom!
There are times when it seems as if God has my life hanging on a bungee cord. Something will come along and all of a sudden, I find myself falling, and falling, and fallen then just before I crash at the bottom I reach the end of God’s bungee cord and He pulls me from crashing just in time. All while I am falling I am questioning, “Why LORD are you letting me fall, why didn’t you prevent it?” Usually my question is answered in silence, that is until I the LORD spoke to me as I read Isaiah chapter 41.
“When the poor and needy search for water and there is none, and their tongues are parched from thirst, then I, the LORD, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will never abandon them. I will open up rivers for them on the high plateaus. I will give them fountains of water in the valleys. I will fill the desert with pools of water. Rivers fed by springs will flow across the parched ground.” (Isaiah 41:17–18, NLT)
“Because I can,” I understood the LORD saying, “and because I can in the end it will be to your good.” Basically, God was telling me He didn’t really owe me an explanation some would tell me I wouldn’t be able to understand His reason anyway, that might be true. However, God did give me a reason, “…it will be to your good.” Everything God does or doesn’t do is to bolster His relationship with us and our relationship with Him. Isaiah seems to be telling us God’s Blessings are of a physical nature, yet the truth is God’s Blessings are spiritual in the form of a deeper more intimate relationship with Him any physical blessings coming out of our relationship are “fringe benefits” designed by God so we can glorify Him.
Isaiah adds… “I am doing this so all who see this miracle will understand what it means— that it is the LORD who has done this, the Holy One of Israel who created it.” (Isaiah 41:20, NLT)
AMEN!
“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” **
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
