Christianity 201 Guidelines

orthodox Christians only.

Discussion on matters of general mainstream evangelical Christian theology that do not fit within Theology 201. Have some spiritual gifts ceased today? Is the KJV the only viable translation for the church today? In what sense are the books of the bible inspired and what are those books? Church government? Modern day prophets and apostles?

This forum is primarily for Christians to discuss matters of Christian doctrine, and is not the area for debate between atheists (or those opposing orthodox Christianity) and Christians. Inquiring atheists (or sincere seekers/doubters/unorthodox) seeking only Christian participation and having demonstrated a manner that does not seek to undermine the orthodox Christian faith of others are also welcome, but must seek Moderator permission first. When defining “Christian” or "orthodox" for purposes of this section, we mean persons holding to the core essentials of the historic Christian faith such as the Trinity, the Creatorship of God, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the atonement, the future bodily return of Christ, the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and the final judgment. Persons not holding to these core doctrines are welcome to participate in the Comparative Religions section without restriction, in Theology 201 as regards to the nature of God and salvation with limited restrictions, and in Christology for issues surrounding the person of Christ and the Trinity. Atheists are welcome to discuss and debate these issues in the Apologetics 301 forum without such restrictions.

Additionally and rarely, there may be some topics or lines of discussion that within the Moderator's discretion fall so outside the bounds of mainstream orthodox doctrine (in general Christian circles or in the TheologyWeb community) or that deny certain core values that are the Christian convictions of forum leadership that may be more appropriately placed within Unorthodox Theology 201. NO personal offense should be taken by such discretionary decision for none is intended. While inerrancy is NOT considered a requirement for posting in this section, a general respect for the Bible text and a respect for the inerrantist position of others is requested.

The Tweb rules apply here like they do everywhere at Tweb, if you haven't read them, now would be a good time.

  • We Need an Honest to Goodness Holy Ghost Revival

I've been saying that for some time now, as the country seems more and more deeply divided, and 'government' can't be trusted or relied upon to change things.

Change happens when the heart is changed.

MAYBE there's hope, to whatever extent this reporting is accurate...

Bible Studies at the White House: Who's Inside This Spiritual Awakening?

WASHINGTON – A spiritual awakening is underway at the White House.

Some of the most powerful people in America have been gathering weekly to learn more about God's Word, and this Trump Cabinet Bible study is making history.

They've been called the most evangelical Cabinet in history – men and women who don't mince words when it comes to where they stand on God and the Bible.

Ralph Drollinger of Capitol Ministries told CBN News, "These are godly individuals that God has risen to a position of prominence in our culture."

They're all handpicked by President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

"I don't think Donald Trump has figured out that he chained himself to the Apostle Paul," Drollinger laughed....
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

From reading the article, it doesn't appear that the President/VP actually attend the studies (though Pence has expressed interest in making time). Not sure if the "handpicked" is referring to the Cabinet itself or the Bible study.

I think because of this part...

...the implication is that, even though Trump may not have been aware of what he was doing, he "hand picked" the "godly individuals" who are meeting, studying the Bible, and presumably praying for our nation and Trump.

It's a glimmer of hope in an otherwise... um... chaotic administration.

I think there is at least one faithful chaplain there (African American and I don't recall his church affiliation ) who had been criticizing Congress members. He may not be there anymore.

But yeah, I've seen more reports of those prayer groups.

Good, as long as they don't blunder into putting together some sort of de facto theonomy.

The fact that they consider that weird little fascist turd Sessions a good example impresses me -- unfavorably.

The language you use in describing Sessions (and your unreasoning fear that someone's going to implement theonomy) impresses me - unfavorably.

Hopefully Trump will attend and learn something.

Pence is already a pretty strong Christian from what I have read.

I will be more hopeful when a revival breaks out among the people. A government "lead" revival by one administration can be easily undone by the next administration.

Well, that's why it needs to be a Holy Ghost revival.

                      Those aren't so easily undone.

And such revivals tend to have ulterior political motivations and not focused on God.

                            We need the real deal.

So, if God chooses to pour out His Spirit on some people who happen to work in government - even in high positions - you'd reject it? I'm thinking you're not a student of Revivals of the 20th century.
