Ironically, they should feel thankful; Americans of African ancestry generally have it much, much better than Africans themselves these days.

It's pretty rare I'm actually wrong about something, since I don't tend to make statements unless I've got good reason to think they're true, but when I am wrong I try and acknowledge it and thank the person who has put me right because I'm always glad to gain knowledge or correct false beliefs.

What happens much more often on this forum is that conservative posters wrongly get convinced that I am wrong about something and work themselves up over having supposedly caught me out. It gets frustrating to try and explain over and over to them that they are wrong to think I was wrong. This thread is becoming an example of this.

"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

No, it's because you guys do it so often.

Ya know, Star, I used to think you were a pretty decent fella, albeit your extremist wrong views, but lately you're like a smarter meaner version of JimL.

This is clearly racist. Slavery is only evil if perpetrated by Westerners.

It is just that Starlight has a reputation around here for claiming to be an expert on things, like what Christians believe and their doctrine, and being completely wrong. Christians tell him he is wrong and we should know since we are the ones believing it, and he still insists he is right. And everyone knows this, therefore the amens.

If it was not for the fact that most of my friends are actually Christians and would disagree with most of what you say then perhaps that would make sense. "Christians tell him he is wrong"... You don't have to spend many minutes on this forum to see that not even Christians agree. You don't need to study the history of religion for very long in order to see that historically Christians have changed their mind again and again.

Which completely misses the point. You cannot say what Christians as a group believe because Christians believe quite many different things. But you can say what a particular Christian thinks if you have got knowledge about their interpretation.
