    Glory Seed Devotional, 2017.08.16

Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh...
    “I know God can...”
    Shalom!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.” (Hebrews 12:1–2, NLT)

Remember this famous Forest Gump saying, “Life is like a box of chocolates.” Not only is life like a box of chocolates life is also like a Salmon swimming upstream battling swift currents and hungry bears to spawn. There can be no doubt that life can and does at times because of opposition and obstacles make life difficult So, out of His hands-on experience God makes provisions for us. The writer of Hebrews outlines the provisions for us this way, “…let us strip off every weight that slows us down… And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Of the things we need to ”strip off” two of the most dangerous ones are our attitude and pride.

One of faith’s fieriest enemies is our attitude. Remember the children’s story about the little train carrying toys over a mountain for children? “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!” And to his surprise the little train was victorious. When it comes to life we need to adopt and adapt that attitude in our daily life however, we need to change it slightly, “I know God can! I know God can, I know God can, I know God can!” Adopting that attitude gives God everything He needs to see to our success.

Then there’s pride, the stealthy killer, isolating its victim into a single his or her world of one. Pride kicks God out of the center of our world and puts us in His place. One of pride’s strongest supporters is out attitude its battle cry goes something like this, “I know God can but I don’t need Him, I know God can but I don’t need Him, I know God can but I don’t need Him, I know God can but I don’t need Him!”

Both our attitude and pride are beatable but to defeat them are costly because the cost of doing so is the total sum of our lives. The Apostle John in his first letter gives us the key for beating our attitude and pride and opening up the door for the provisions in Hebrews 12:1–2, “For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 John 5:4–5, NLT)

“May God be merciful and bless us. May his face smile with favor on us.” **
    Grace and PEACE,
    Gary

Amen Gary!!! That quote from 1 John is the clincher for me.
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures --1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (borrowed with gratitude from 37818's sig)
