That's fake news. Rosa Parks had no children.

I saw a spokesman for Rice University (Houston) explaining that they're removing a stature, but they're not really "removing" it, they're simply relocating it, and it will be, uh, placed in, uh, well, if, uh... if historians or students want to come study it, uh......

Sure makes it sound like it's going into a storage room or something. The guy couldn't look the camera or the reporter in the eye. It had all the flavor of "I really don't want to do this but I have no choice".
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Not only is it fake news, but the so called Muriel Parks-Rosenberg looks remarkably like Ohio state senator, Democrat Nina Turner.

Next they'll have to cancel the game altogether because it's played in Virginia, which has the word "virgin" in it, which is too sexual for television. That makes about as much sense as pulling that announcer.

They don't want him announcing the game between the University of Virginia and William & Mary because of his name.

This is exactly the sort of mindless political correctness that is so aggravating and why ESPN has been rapidly losing viewers.

Considering the state of the media today if they ever made such a connection they would start playing goofy 70s style porn music during the game.

Some political correctness can be easily mocked, certainly. But it exists to show differences between people or groups in a non-offensive way and surely this is not a bad thing. Particularly when dealing with blacks vis-à-vis slavery and what the likes of Robert E Lee (and his modern-day equivalents) stood for.

                        • Something else you may not know.

Lincoln offered Lee command of the Union army because he was so well respected. The only reason Lee turned it down was because of his loyalty to Virginia and could not bring himself to fight against his native state.

Col. Robert E. Lee was offered the command of the United States army. Lee was a military officer who had attended West Point and had fought with distinction in the Mexican American War. He was one of the higher ranking soldiers in the U.S. Army at the time of secession, and had served for a time as Superintendent of West Point. Winfield Scott, the highest ranking American general and military hero, told Lincoln that he wished Lee to command of the army. He was appointed as Colonel on March 28th, and ignored a Confederate offer of command.

But after the attack on Fort Sumter and Lincoln's call for 75,000 men, Virginia, Lee's home state, seceded. Lincoln appointed him Major General and offered him the command of the army. Lee however turned it down. After he made his decision, Winfield Scott said, “Lee, you have made the greatest mistake of your life...”

To many people today, it would see strange that Lee would turn down such a command and follow the apparently hopeless fate of the Confederacy. Although he was born and raised in Virginia, like Winfield Scott, he had spent much of his life serving the United States of America all over the continent. He disagreed with slavery, and believed that secession was unwise. He wrote:

I can anticipate no greater calamity for the country than a dissolution of the Union. It would be an accumulation of all the evils we complain of, & I am willing to sacrifice every thing but honour for its preservation...

With all these reasons pointing to why he would stay with the North, why did he decide to side with the South? It came down to his view of state sovereignty. Lee viewed himself as a Virginian more than an American. He would follow the choice of his state even though he personally disagreed with it. He viewed his service to the South not as a fight against the Union, but as a defense of Virginia. Lee said,

I shall never bear arms against the Union, but it may be necessary for me to carry a musket in the defense of my native state, Virginia, in which case I shall not prove recreant to my duty.

Yes, we know, he was a traitor to his country. And I don't understand the claim that he was against slavery when he fought in court to keep his own slaves under bondage even though his Father in law promised them their freedom.

He was not a traitor and he changed his mind about slavery. He freed them 10 years before the war started, stated publicly that slavery was evil, and even paid to send any of his slaves who wanted to go to Liberia, a country created just for freed slaves. I have said this throughout this thread several times and you just keep ignoring the facts and repeating your lies. Please leave my thread.
