Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh...
Look to the Light…
Shalom!
I have divided my life into two different “Lands” one Land I call the “Land of Positivity” and the other Land I call the “Land of Negativity”. Entrance to either Land is gained through our attitude to the situations we face daily. This morning in my Daily Prayer Letter to God (my Journal) with “LORD, I am writing this Letter from the Land of Negativity… Because life has become “heavy” for me the last couple of days I have found myself in the Land of Negativity this morning. To which the Holy Spirit responded with, “Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, LORD. They rejoice all day long in your wonderful reputation. They exult in your righteousness. You are their glorious strength. It pleases you to make us strong. Yes, our protection comes from the LORD, and he, the Holy One of Israel, has given us our king.” (Psalm 89:15–18, NLT)
When I think of what God’s Call to Worship is on our lives I think of these words, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12, NLT) There is nowhere the light of Jesus does not penetrate the darkest walk in the Land of Negativity because, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” (John 1:5, NLT) Since there is nowhere the light of Jesus does not penetrate even though I am in the Land of Negativity I walk in “the light of your presence, LORD.” But then that’s nothing new because, “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4, NLT)
What I am learning for all this is with our relationship with Jesus when we take occasional trips to the Land of Negativity we personally don’t need to be negative because not only do we have the light from Heaven surrounding us we are also are accompanied by the Holy Spirit. The Psalmist sums the lesson up this way, “For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” (Psalm 84:11, NLT)
“May God be merciful and bless us. May his face smile with favor on us.” **
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
