But I think HR's point was likely a tu quoque against KJVOs, who often try to vilify Westcott, Hort, Metzger, Kittel et al. as a major argument against the modern versions. See my post Westcott's beliefs for documentation of his belief in the deity of Christ and the Rez, and KJV is just a translation! which shows how Metzger affirmed the Trinity and reliability of the NT and trashed JW fallacies.
