I think it should be, but that's another story.

      • On the OP topic of socialism, I see as part of Trump's embarrassing speech at the U.N. this week, he took a swipe at socialism in general which fell completely flat with the audience.

Trump claimed Venezuela's problems came from socialism, and called socialism a discredited ideology. The tumbleweeds rolled as the audience looked at one another and felt embarrassed for Trump, and then realized Trump wasn't going to keep talking unless they at least half-heartedly clapped for him.

Socialistic, atheistic Finland, already ranked high in the IHDI is beginning an experiment being run by the government, "in which 2,000 unemployed people between the ages of 25 and 58 will receive a guaranteed sum – a “basic income” – of €560 a month for two years. It replaces their unemployment benefit, but they will continue to receive it whether or not they find work. The government hopes it will encourage the unemployed to take on part-time work without worrying about losing their benefits."

But, one wouldn't expect such an enlightened approach in the punitive Christian society of the USA.

Yep, the same body of hypocrites that let nearly 1 million people be killed in a brutal genocide, back in the 1990's, is the same group I should trust. Funny how few remember the praise that was given by liberals to Venezuela when they took wealth from the wealthy and redistributed it to the population and said we should follow their example and do the same in our own countries. I suppose the idiots at the UN conviently forget about details, such as that and are embarrassed any of them supported that failed experiment. Why any should care what a useless group of people think is beyond me, but take any victory you can I suppose as you ignore all the bodies and failed states socialism produces.

You are right, Venezuela is such a beacon of hope and shining star of successful socialism. What was Trump thinking?

It did well for decades. It's amusing how you guys selective refuse to acknowledge decades of success, and then point to problems caused by the recent drop in oil prices as the Truth About Socialism. It's like someone judging Capitalism purely on the 2008 financial crisis in the US.

Trump's idiotic statements about socialism were given in front of people from countries that are currently socialist, and others who are well-informed about politics and know that socialism isn't the cause of Venezuela's current problems.

drop in oil prices? Are you that clueless what has gone on in Venezuela? Maybe you should read some news and even watch that video I posted earlier.

What's that? The President pointed out the undeniable consequences of the failed political ideology that many in the UN continue to desperately cling to, and they didn't erupt in wild applause?

The problem, of course -- and this has been proven time and time again throughout history -- is that encouraging dependence on the government has never led to personal prosperity. If it did then blacks should be the richest and most successful demographic in America.

I find it interesting that the crimes of fascist are properly condemned for the destruction the wrought and the piles of dead left in their wake. Yet the crimes of socialist, who killed far more people, destroyed far more countries, runioned far more lives, and continue to commit these crimes, are not only ignored, but socialist are admired and people say we should try it here. One has to wonder what kind of mass delusion makes millions admire a group of thugs and killers.

The socialist wanna-be's here WANT dependence on the government. They have no desire for anyone to attain personal prosperity. they are angry at anyone who attains personal prosperity and want to punish them for it. Whether it is ignorance, jealousy, or some combination of the two, I am not real certain...

Of course those greedy capitalist wouldn't give up their land, they had for generations, so they left the good, honest, and hard working socialist no choice but to murder them and steal their stuff from their cold, dead hands. Those greedy capitalist should have gone to their forced labor camps in peace.
