That sounds like an apocalyptic imagery version of the Christmas story! With the flight to Egypt and it could also refer to Christians escaping Jerusalem during the Jewish revolt war.
If it weren't for the Resurrection of Jesus, we'd all be in DEEP TROUBLE!

What would be the point of retelling the Christmas story in 70 or 90 AD?

Then it's referring to the persecuted Church at the time. Ask a Bible scholar!

What would be the point of writing a letter to seven churches (that then existed) about things that wouldn't come about for 2000 years and have no relevance to them?

Let's try and find a middle ground between "having no relevance to them" and "only being relevant to them", since that is what the text indicates. Ain't no global economy in 70 AD, ya heard?

How about a Roman world economy? That was the "civilized world" of their time. They didn't know about the Americas or Australia, and they didn't really care about the other parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia.

So that "no man" may buy or sell, not "no Roman man."

Why specify Roman? Most of the people living in the Roman Empire were not Roman citizens.

    That is not very informative.
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

The end-times. You expect it to happen this year right?
