Still being your usual pedantic self I see. Most would have figured that Galileo laid out much of the experiment framework that modern scientist use (as well as being credited as the father of modern physics). Much of Copernicus' ideas about the solar system were based very little on what a modern scientist would and was mostly based on philosophy with little to no experimental data while Galileo used observation and experimentation to work his ideas out. What one sounds more like a scientist, in our modern sense, to you?

right. so tell that to your buddy Tassman who asked "Why do you dispute the scientific consensus" in regards those who question AGW.

Unlike climate science, there is no verifiable evidence supporting Christianity.

It was a consensus, predating modern science, based upon biblical "truths" and philosophical argument...not upon empirically tested facts.

The geocentric model was the science of the day. They even had observable evidence and mathematical models that confirmed it. Copernicus just questioned the science of the day and came up with a simpler model that explained the observations.

You want it both ways, you want science to question and learn new things, EXCEPT when it is your pet belief, AGW, then you want them to leave things be and accept the consensus. You are just as bad as those who condemned Copernicus and Galileo. You prove yet again how much you are a fundy.

"Settled science" is just another way of invoking "The Consensus". Who says, "It's settled science that the Moon orbits the Earth"? Nobody, because the evidence speaks for itself. This is not the case with "global warming". If it was then "scientists" wouldn't be forced to play fast and loose with the data.

And to say that "there is no verifiable evidence supporting Christianity" is astoundingly ignorant, like saying, "There is no verifiable evidence that George Washington was the first President of the United States."

Wait, if the US is a Russian puppet state, why aren't we following their lead like the good little puppets we allegedly are? I'm so confused.

Personally I would give more credit to Francis Bacon than to Galileo although as you noted there were many others stretching well back through history. I read an article awhile back that made a pretty good case that hunter-gatherers employed the scientific method to a large degree especially when tracking game.

An excellent description of most believers, no matter the belief, religious believers being the most obvious examples.

We'll have to wait for Muellers investigation to conclude for the answer to that question.
