Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing God...
It ain’t easy, but it ain’t impossible!
Shalom!
“The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”” (Psalm 91:14–16, NLT)
Yesterday I learned something new about how God works in our lives. The lesson goes like this, God doesn’t always make things easy, but He always makes things possible. I was asked to give the talk at our church yesterday. I was a little apprehensive about it because my lung capacity has dropped far enough when I talk to long it is hard for me to catch my breath fast enough to keep up and it becomes increasingly difficult for me to breathe. And wouldn’t you know it I forgot to turn up the oxygen flow on my portable oxygen tank. I started out strong but as time when on it started getting increasingly difficult to breathe but God came to my rescue and I made it all the way to the end!
I remember praying silent in between breaths, when are you going help me LORD and make it a little easier for me to get through this? He didn’t but He made it possible for me to finish my message. It was later that evening when the lesson I was to learn finally sank in. It was one of those AHA moments that will stay with me the rest of my life. I always wanted my life to be like electricity because electricity always follows the path of least resistance but the path of electricity and the path of life have very little in common. But for those who have a working relationship with God when we run into heavy resistance on our path God is there to either re-route us or push us through it.
One last thing along these same lines for you to think about. I am sure you’ve heard the phrase “bad things happen to good people.” What you may not have heard or thought about is this “bad things become good things to God’s People.” One of the problems we run into is we normally want things to happen in our own time, and God is not subject to Blessing us in our own time.
“May God be merciful and bless us. May his face smile with favor on us.” **
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
