Natural Science 301 Guidelines

This is an open forum area for all members for discussions on all issues of science and origins. This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. This means obvious trolling and flaming that becomes a problem will be dealt with, and you might find yourself in the doghouse.

As usual, Tweb rules apply. If you haven't read them now would be a good time.

So, there's solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. Are there any other states? And what are sources of plasma besides stars? Is fire plasma?
If it weren't for the Resurrection of Jesus, we'd all be in DEEP TROUBLE!

Fire isn't plasma, it's just visible heat/chemicals released from some oxidation reactions.

More states are predicted to exist at extremely low temperatures. No idea if they have actually been demonstrated in an experiment yet.

The wikipedia entry has a really good list:

Though oddly it lumps my favorite, the supercritical fluid, under gas.

I believe that one is called a bose constant, but you have to be near subzero to get it.

The Ω− baryon is composed entirely of strange quarks.

It's now looking like particles with four or more quarks are also possible, though. So technically, something with five strange quarks could be possible, and thus even stranger.

I guess strange quarks are very strange? What do they do anyway?
