I'm not saying that a Trump win was a sure thing, only that a Hillary win wasn't the sure thing the media was making it out to be. Based on what I was seeing, I was pretty sure it would come down to the wire.

Really? Because every (credible) indication going into election day said that Trump had a very good chance of winning. It was the hysterical mainstream media who promoted the lie that Hillary's victory was a foregone conclusion, which is why dupes like Jimmy are still crying about it.

I wouldn't say "very good chance of winning" though I suppose it depends considerably on how strictly you define the term. With the information available, Hillary had the higher odds because Trump had to win more swing states than Hillary in order to get to 270. I think saying Trump had about a 1 in 3 chance of winning is fair.

The latest apparent gaff is Trump calling the widow of a fallen soldier and calling him "your guy" instead of using his name and saying "he knew what he was getting into"

Not sure if this is more liberal spin or not, but it does sound like Trump. He tends to just blurt out stuff and speak in a "stream of consciousness" style that usually ends up with him saying stuff that sounds horrible.

But at least he was actually calling the families of fallen soldiers. He cares, but he has a big mouth.

"Basically he said, ‘Well, I guess he knew what he signed up for. But I guess it still hurt.’ That’s what he said."

So not a direct quote but a paraphrase which the President has explicitly denied saying:

"Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof)."

Press Secretary Sarah Sanders defended the President, saying there were several other people who heard the call, including General John Kelly:

And I don’t know how you could take that any other way."

Not exactly. She claims the President was "disrespectful" but never actually said how; the story just cites the unconfirmed paraphrase.

Sounds like my mom. The way she says something, and what she actually intends to say are often rather different.
