Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing God...
    We go into the unknown…
    Shalom!

“Christ’s love is greater than anyone can ever know, but I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with the fullness of God. With God’s power working in us, God can do much, much more than anything we can ask or imagine. To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus for all time, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:19–21, NCV)

Can anyone ever really know someone completely? Can we really know ourselves completely? Based on my own experience my answer would be no. I am not sure how the apostle Paul would answer my questions, but I know what he’d say about knowing Jesus love completely. “Christ’s love is greater than anyone can ever know,” he writes. But he doesn’t stop there he finishes the sentence, “…but I pray that you will be able to know that love.” For me that is an invitation to go into those factors of Jesus’ love unknown to us at this time.

Paul was trying to tell us “it is not the destination that is most important, it is getting there.” The difference can be illustrated by comparing a car trip to Florida to getting there by airplane flight. There is a huge difference between seeing and experiencing the beauty of our great country while traveling through it rather than seeing it from 30,000 feet in the air. By driving to Florida in a car we get to experience the beautiful scenery, to feel and become part of it that is lacking when at 30,000 feet.

Your probably already are aware of the difference between knowing someone and experiencing them. While both are important perhaps experiencing slightly edges knowing into second place because it is the interaction between knowledge and our life’s journey that creates experience. During my “faith building formative years” when difficulties and adversities would arise I would turn to the scriptures for help however, as I interacted with the knowledge gained through the scriptural experience taught me to turn to God first rather than just the scriptures.

Paul is also telling us when our knowledge of God turns into experience “With God’s power working in us, God can do much, much more than anything we can ask or imagine.” From that point our experience goes into action and we find, “I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13, NCV)

I have titled today’s Glory Seed “We go into the unknown” because putting the knowledge we have of Jesus’ love and going on an exploration to experience it more completely our relationship with him will deepen and solidify our relationship with God. And maybe, just maybe will discover and experience ourselves deeper as well.

“May God be merciful and bless us. May his face smile with favor on us.” **
    Grace and PEACE,
    Gary
