Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing God...
Walking on thin ice…
Shalom!
Yesterday I wrote, “I may be walking on “thin ice” but when I read “look at the stone quarry from which you were dug,” I immediately I thought of Jesus reaching back into his empty tomb and pulling us out one at a time.” Jesus’ death on the cross is His gift to us and what God did in the tomb is His gift to us. “But God’s mercy is great, and he loved us very much. Though we were spiritually dead because of the things we did against God, he gave us new life with Christ. You have been saved by God’s grace. And he raised us up with Christ and gave us a seat with him in the heavens. He did this for those in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:4–6, NCV)
Somehow in Jesus’ dark damp tomb God’s Light did the impossible, “He gave us new life with Christ.” Adding further God’s Greatest Miracle / Blessing the apostle Paul writes, “If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new! All this is from God. Through Christ, God made peace between us and himself, and God gave us the work of telling everyone about the peace we can have with him.” (2 Corinthians 5:17–18, NCV)
“The old things have gone; everything is made new!” I have never associated this particular sentence with the maladies some of us carry with us on a daily basis until I began writing this Glory Seed. But as I went deeper into what is means to me and you I suddenly discovered the “things” might not be the maladies themselves but newness they become as our lives are built on Jesus’ life. Instead of burdens to be carried they become not only “points of interest” to Jesus but also “rally points” for the Holy Spirit to do what He does best, Bless us!
“May God be merciful and bless us. May his face smile with favor on us.” **
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
