  • Thanksgiving is on a Thursday This Year!!!

How will you spend it, and with whom?

Last year, we tried something new at our Church.

I began to realize last fall that we had a number of people who were transplants to our area, and their family was in another state, or, in the case of two of our families, all of their family was in Nigeria and Nepal, respectively.

So, besides our annual "Church Wide Thanksgiving Dinner", which is on the Sunday afternoon preceding Thanksgiving, we decided to have a meal at the Church Fellowship Hall on Thanksgiving DAY, at which those who would otherwise be alone could come and fellowship with us. My wife and I host this, and last year it was about 50 people. This year, it might be as many as 70.

I also realize that some families have several Thanksgiving Day meals, one at home, one at the in-laws, one at grandparents, or whatever.

So, how may Thanksgiving Dinners will you attend, and with whom?

(This year, many of us who will be having the Thanksgiving DAY meal will first help serve at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner downtown)
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

We had a very quiet celebration more than a month ago.

But good on you and your church!

Working 7 AM to 4 PM and then rushing over to my brother's hopefully before everyone is done eating.

So, one Thanksgiving Meal? Then football? Usually at noon, or later?

One meal Thursday, at the home of a former deacon at my church, which is sort of in between me and my relatives in New Jersey, where I'll eat another meal on Friday. I'll spend more time with family on Saturday before heading back home.
Enter the Church and wash away your sins. For here there is a hospital and not a court of law. Do not be ashamed to enter the Church; be ashamed when you sin, but not when you repent. – St. John Chrysostom

This year Thanksgiving coincides with my birthday. Normally I don't do anything for my birthday at all but Cath has invited a number of people over in the afternoon. We'll see who shows up.

Since I don't like turkey, this may give me a way out this year.

That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

We're stuck in Massachusetts for Thanksgiving since the school holiday is too short and tickets are too expensive. We're planning to go to Boston Market so we can at least get yams.

Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast.

If not, I can at least get turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and gravy at D'Angelo's in their Thanksgiving sandwich.

Is there a Luby's near you?

I searched Luby's on Google maps and it brought up Fuddrucker's, which will confuse me all day.

So Boston Market and/or D'Angelo's it is.

I take my son, daughter in law and three grandkids out for a turkey meal. Then I come home and watch "It's a Wonderful Life."
