If the Democrats want to have any consistency in their demands, they better be demanding that Franken not only say "oh gee I'm sorry" but that he also step down. Then a great number of Senators and Representatives need to step down too, including those who have either sexually harassed or discriminated their staff workers.

I see he's apologized and she's accepted his apology.

That will be all we'll hear about it, I'm sure. His life will go on as before.

Yeah the same guy who talked about how much cocaine he and some of the other writers for Saturday Night Live used to do in order to get the show done and how he used to lie about it because "that was just a funny lie that I liked to tell."

And then there was his trip to Bob Jones University (a place that is a legitimate target for satire) with an actor pretending to be his son where he tried to get them to bend their rules for some major donations as he recounted in his book "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them." Unfortunately for Franken they didn't budge but he seemed unperturbed by the failure and summed it up as "A good honest day's work done, lying to God-fearing people. We'd sleep well tonight." Kind of an ironic remark considering the title of his book.

And then there was the time, according to a 1995 New York Times Magazine article entitled "Comedy Isn't Funny: Saturday Night Live At Twenty--How The Show That Transformed TV Became A Grim Joke," that while discussing a skit for Saturday Night Live about 60 Minutes curmudgeon Andy Rooney during the 1994-1995 season, Franken suddenly proposed a skit where he suggested that he drugs and rapes CBS News reporter Lesley Stahl.

In the New York Magazine article, dated March 13, 1995, entitled "Comedy Isn't Funny: Saturday Night Live At Twenty--How The Show That Transformed TV Became A Grim Joke" Franken veers off of a discussion of a skit involving Andy Rooney, and proposes a skit involving the drugging and rape of Lesley Stahl.
Franken: And, "I give the pills to Lesley Stahl. Then, when Lesley's passed out, I take her to the closet and rape her." Or, "That's why you never see Lesley until February." Or, "When she passes out, I put her in various positions and take pictures of her."

Real comedy gold there Back in 2008 he actually chuckled about it while "apologizing" for it while running for Senate in 2008 on Minnesota Public Radio:
"Uh, this was a brainstorming session at SNL and you know I said something [snickers] in it that was indefensible and I apologize for that, I’m generally sorry, but it really kills me, as I said, it just – I’m a human being, and it hurts me that some mistakes I made made people feel that uh I’m – I don’t have a dedication to to women and women’s rights and to all Minnesotans that I do have."

If you can call what he wrote an apology. But, yes, that will be enough for liberals to sweep it all under the rug and then hypocritically pretend to be champions of women's rights.

Franken "apologized" for the picture (or rather he deflected from it), which he couldn't have plausibly denied anyway, but he never apologized for forcibly kissing the women against her will and harassing her throughout the remainder of the trip. All he said about that was something to the effect of "I remember things differently," which you'll notice isn't actually a denial.

But Franken knows how easy it is fool liberal idiots like you, which was all his "apology" was meant to do.

It was cold and calculated - he's sorry he got caught.

right. and if Moore apologized and said he was sorry the whole mess would be called off and he could run for Senator, right? HA. You know that if he admitted that he did what they say and said he was sorry, they would just go after him harder.

Besides, why can we trust that Franken actually means his apology? He has a long history of inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment. When called out on it in the past he apologized but then later in his own book he said that he only apologized to get more votes and he wasn't sorry at all.

Despite his apology, Democratic Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota isn’t sorry for a making a rape joke about Lesley Stahl during the 1994-1995 season of “Saturday Night Live.”

The former comedian published a memoir-style book May 30 in which he reveals that he’s not sorry for any of the crude jokes he made during his long career as a screenwriter.

“To say I was sorry for writing a joke was to sell out my career, to sell out who I’d been my entire life,” Franken wrote in his book, according to the New York Times. “And I wasn’t sorry that I had written Porn-o-Rama or pitched that stupid Lesley Stahl joke at 2 in the morning. I was just doing my job.”

“I give the pills to Lesley Stahl. Then, when Lesley’s passed out, I take her to the closet and rape her. When she passes out, I put her in various positions and take pictures of her,” Franken joked while working as a writer for SNL.

Franken added that he publicly apologized for the jokes after it became clear they bothered women voters in the state of Minnesota. “I learned that campaigns have their own rules, they own laws of physics, and that if I wasn’t willing to accept that, I would never get to be a senator,” Franken said.

His apology paid off. Franken defeated the Republican incumbent by only 300 votes in 2008, an astoundingly close race for a Senate seat. He earned a much wider margin in his reelection effort in the Republican “surge” of 2014.

It seems like not everybody was fooled by Franken's ingratiating "apology":

                            Source: The Gateway Pundit

Two prominent members of Minnesota’s Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party are calling on Sen. Al Franken to resign his Senate seat following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Although many other Democrats have called the former comedian’s actions disturbing, state auditor Rebecca Otto and Megan Thomas, president of the party’s official Feminist Caucus, say he should leave office.

Otto, a candidate for governor in Minnesota, said in a statement that “I believe it’s in the best interest of Minnesotans and of women everywhere for Senator Franken to resign, and to set an example to powerful men across America that sexual harassment will not be tolerated.”

Thomas, meanwhile, told the Washington Examiner that Franken’s misconduct was “every woman’s nightmare on a bus.” In a Facebook post, the longtime party organizer wrote that while she appreciated his progressive vote record, the fear Franken will instill in women is enough reason for his departure.

“The ‘political’ answer is to wait and not overreact. But I also know that the next time I see him in person I will, however fleeting or unneeded, be afraid because of what he is doing in that picture. No one should fear their elected representatives, so, sadly, for me, I think the Senator should resign,” she wrote.

Former Obama White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett added her name Thursday to the list of Democrats criticising under-fire Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) to step down after he was accused of committing sexual assault in 2006.

“Just imagine your mom, spouse, sister or daughter in this photo. Not so funny now, is it?” Jarrett tweeted alongside an image capturing Franken’s groping of journalist Leeann Tweeden on a two-week USO tour.

On Thursday’s “MSNBC Live,” Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) denounced Senator Al Franken’s (D-MN) behavior as unacceptable and stated she will donate campaign contributions received from him to an organization for women veterans.

Baldwin said, “Well, this type of behavior isn’t acceptable whether it’s from a Democrat or a Republican or an independent. And I am glad that it is going to the Ethics Committee in the Senate for an investigation. I think that is appropriate, and I will say, for my part, I will be donating campaign contributions from Senator Franken to a Women’s Veteran Initiative in the state of Wisconsin.”

Of course we all know that a Senate ethics committee investigatiosn are a sham, so I'm sure Franken is mopping his brow in relief right now that he got off so easy. But I have to wonder, suppose it was Trump in that picture and not Franken... what would the response have been?

Interesting aside on "Wandering Hands Joe"....

Consider Joe Biden. A few short weeks ago, the former senator and vice president seemed like he would be a leading contender to win the Democratic nomination for president in 2020 and then the favorite to challenge President Trump's bid for re-election. But now? Biden's polling may look good, but he has a history of wandering hands that is simply incompatible with the new normal. He's a political dead man.
